AUGUST 3
• Historical town paintings by late Exeter artist
Harry Burke will finally by displayed by the munici-
pality, as originally planned.
The paintings, which had hung in The Ranch House
Inn for several years, had recently been removed by
Burke's son Tom.
• Two South Huron construction projects are clos-
er to reality after council awarded tenders at a spe-
cial July 26 meeting.
The major reconstruction project for the residential
side of Huron Park was awarded to low bidder J-aar
Excavating Limited at a project cost of
$7,080,782.45.
AUGUST 10
• Concerned Exeter residents packed the Olde
Town Hall Monday night urging council to solve the
flood situation.
Wayne DeLuca and James Parker, both of Pryde
Boulevard, led the delegation and submitted a five
page petition to council requesting that "council
immediately identify and correct the source of flood-
ing in the east end of Exeter, in particular the imme-
diate vicinity of Pryde Boulevard."
• A lightning strike caused hundreds of thousands
of dollars in damage to a dairy operation on Mount
Carmel Drive in Crediton.

Hodgins and his father Harvey. It's been in the fami-
ly for several generations.
AUGUST 17

Employment Resource Centre (HERC) are merging
into a new one-stop shopping location downtown.
The new Centre For Employment and Learning will
open in the former Shoppers Drug Mart on Main
Street in early September.
AUGUST 24
• Last week's planned
court case involving
Trivitt Memorial
Anglican Church and
the Mildred Grimes
estate was adjourned
after one of the three
lawyers involved in the
case had a scheduling
conflict.
The case was to be heard Aug. 19 at the Goderich
Court House.

Monday night.
Huron County planner Claire Dodds briefed council

develop a strategy for mineral aggregate extraction.
AUGUST 31
• Frustration and anger are growing among Huron
Park businesses weary of delays in the industrial
park's privatization.
Several of those businesses met with South Huron
council Monday night in a boardroom of Huron Park
manufacturer Gnutti Ltd.
While the province, which owns Huron Park,
announced last August it was going to sell the indus-

some businesses, tiring of the delay, are threatening
to leave.
