Roll Call was "When you were a child, how many children hung stock- ings at your house on Christmas Eve and how and where were they hung?" Members are reminded that the January meeting will be held at the home of Irene Haugh and all are to bring a story, picture, ornament, etc, that makes us laugh as the Roll Call. Anne Cottel was chairperson for the program. Cheryl MacLeod played the piano and led in singing Christmas carols. Jean Neil read about the three sons that left home and "Three Wise Women instead of Three Wise Men". Anne told the story of "The Cat". All enjoyed passing the gift game. Winners were Ada Dietrich, Alma Davey, Cheryl MacLeod and Noella Triebner. The guest speaker of the evening was Gloria (Adams) Martin. She told Holy Baptism held at Saintsbury By Hazel Davis SAINTSBURY CORRESPONDENT SAINTSBURY - The Rev. Canon Beverley A. Wheeler visited last week one day with Hugh and Hazel. Ron and Margaret Carroll are excited to have their grandson Matthew Iredale home now for win- ter and holiday vacation from Penetanguishe College. The celebration of Holy baptism of Audry Grace Ellerington with The Rev'd Fr. William Ward took place Dec., 18 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's church. The church was decorated with white and gold and green arrange- ments with small white lights and white candles and a large crowd filled the church. Mr. Southern of Exeter provided music for the service. Courtney and Katie -Scarlett MacGillivray and Margaret Carroll assisted with the scriptures. Travis Davis and Bob MacGillivray pre- sented the offering. Audrey Grace is the daughter of Crystal and Bryan Ellerington. Following the service a time of fellowship and refreshments was held in the Parish Hall. Wishing everyone a blessed holiday and happy new year. POLICE BRIEFS Mischief to trailers EXETER - Between Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 unknown par- ties entered trailers located at Northlander Industries in Exeter and damaged several cabinets located inside. Car damaged in Exeter EXETER - On Dec. 9 a victim parked her 2005 Dodge Chrysler on Main Street in Exeter facing south. The vic- tim returned to find a large scrape located along the entire driver's side of the vehicle causing more than $1000 in damage. Car vandalized in Exeter EXETER - A victim parked their vehicle at an Alexander Street residence in Exeter on Dec. 10. Unknown parties broke the antenna, scratched the dri- ver's side from front to back and slashed two tires caus- ing more than $1000 in damage. Ride program statistics ONTARIO - The Highway Safety Division of the Ontario Provincial Police released statistics for the first week of the festive ride programs. A total of 98,774 vehicles were checked at roadside checkpoints. A total of 124, 12 hour suspensions were issued and 56 people were charged with alcohol related drinking and driving offences. Six people were killed in fatal collisions during the first week, one was alcohol related. There is a decrease of four people from last year charged with drinking and driving offences for the first week. Man charged with drugs EXETER - Huron OPP stopped a vehicle on London Road just south of Clinton on Dec. 16. The police com- pleted a record check of both the driver and the passen- ger. Police determined the passenger was on probation and had conditions not to associate with the driver. The passenger was arrested for breach of probation and upon searching the male, drugs were located on the passenger. Charged with two counts of breach of proba- tion and one count of possession and drug charges is a 22 -year-old male of Exeter. of her trip to Peru last October. It was a mission trip of 12 people who went to work with the street children. She told of the conditions that the people live with and how terrible the poverty is. Their last rain was in 1983. Gloria sang "Lord I Need You". She had a display of articles she brought back with her. One was a puppet Jake who was used to entertain the children. Jean Neil thanked Gloria and gave her a gift of appreciation. Mystery Sister gifts were exchanged and the men also exchanged gifts. Earl Neil thanked the ladies for the evening on behalf of the guests. All enjoyed a piece of cake, compliments of Noella Triebner in honour of Chris Vanhie's birthday the next day.
