Huron United Way reaches 84 per cent of goal
BAYFIELD —
The Huron
United Way has
so far reached
84 per cent of its
goal for the
year.
Last Friday at
the new Black
Dog Village Pub
and Bistro in
Bayfield, sup-
porters of the
United Way
campaign gath-
ered together to
announce the
campaign total
achieved to date.
Among those
attending were
current county
Warden Rob
Morley and for-
mer Warden
Doug Layton.
Several work-
places were rep-
resented includ-
ing the Sifto
Mine-Goderich
who topped the
$40,000 mark
this year.
Dashwood
Industries and
the Bluewater
Youth Centre
also had repre-
sentation, along
with the both
the Avon
Maitland District
School Board
and the Huron
Perth Catholic
District School
Board. Several
other friends of
the Huron
United way were
also there.
"Back in
August we set a
very ambitious
goal of
$230,000, which
made some peo-
ple a little ner-
vous," said
On Monday a $44,000 donation was made to the x-ray area of South Huron Hospital
(SHH) by the Ministry of Health.The funding is part of an $83.5 million announcement to
improve patient safety, reduce wait times and replace old equipment with updated
machines.The x-ray area at SHH will use the funds towards digital equipment. From left are

and are cau-
tiously optimistic
that with your
support we will
make it."
The United
Way campaign
includes revenue
from special
events, corpo-
rate gifts, indi-
vidual donations
and workplace
campaigns.
"We still have
several work-
place campaigns
underway, and
we are working
hard to get them
closed and
reporting final
results to us,"
Langan added.
"We have had
terrific momen-
tum and dona-
tions are still
corning in from
the public, but
we aren't home
free just yet.

top," said execu-

Payne.
