Hensall getting Habitat house
HENSALL — Habitat for Humanity
Huron County and the Kinsmen Club
of Hensall and District announced
that a new Habitat for Humanity
house will be built in Hensall in the
future.
The Kinsmen Club has taken the
lead in the acquisition of a lot in
Hensall that has been deeded to the
local Habitat affiliate for the purpose
of building a house.
John Schenk, chair of Habitat's
Site Selection Committee, along with
Steve Knight and Darrin Durand of
the Hensall Kinsmen, negotiated the
deal that will eventually lead to the
construction of the third Habitat
house in Huron County. The first
house in Clinton is now completed
and occupied. The second build is
slated for Wingham, and now the
third build is officially targeted for
Hensall.
Chairperson of Habitat for
Humanity Huron County Paul Dyck
echoed the comments and added, "I
want to thank both John Schenk,
Steve Knight, and the rest of the
Kinsmen Club of Hensall and District
for not only acting on their ideals of
service to the community, but also
for having the foresight to partner
with us in order to make a real dif-
ference in the life of a deserving
family."
The date for construction has not
yet been set, but Dyck comments,
"Our next house will be in Wingham
and if fundraising and donations of
material is on track, we hope to
build in the spring of 2006 in
Wingham. Hensall will be next."
The family selection process will
determine who will be eligible to buy
the house. Habitat for Humanity
Huron County sells homes to partner
families at no profit and finances no -
interest mortgages. The homes are
built with partner families, using

donations in the form of capital,
property, labour and donations of
new building supplies from individu-
als, companies, faith groups and ser-
vice clubs. The goal is to build sim-
ple, decent homes through the co-
operation of partner families, volun-
teers and trades professionals.
Families are chosen based on their
need for housing and their ability to
pay for and maintain the home.
Further, a willingness to partner
with and support the objectives of
Habitat for Humanity Huron County
is necessary.
Dyck also noted that any donations
should be sent to the organization's
Hensall address. Any donations sent
to Habitat for Humanity Canada in
Waterloo must be specifically ear-
marked for Huron County.

The Kirkton-Woodham Optimist Club presented a cheque to Usborne Central School
totalling $1,548,87 recently. The proceeds were used to install a fourth projection system
in Usborne Central School. The system includes a cordless mike which is used by the
teacher to enhance the projection of their voice in the classroom. It is beneficial for both
the teacher and students, making it easier to communicate with each other. From left are,
