Once a week a group of mothers come to her house with their babies to learn. One mother from Exeter, Cheryl Hippern brings her daughter to the classes and finds the baby sign lan- guage is helping the communication between them. Devree says introducing a baby to baby sign language around six months is a good age but most mothers in her class have babies between four and five months and that's ok, too. Devree says baby sign language is a good idea for parents, caregivers and the babies and can cut down on a lot of the frustration. Signing also allows infants to communicate clearly their thoughts, needs and feedings before they can speak. Devree can name a whole list of perks and says it is also a great tool for any toddlers with a verbal prob- lem. Devree's classes focus on main nouns and verbs like milk or juice. The sessions will finish soon but Devree will offer more in March at Hansen's Your Independent Grocer in Exeter.
