Our 10 - day southern Caribbean cruise from Nov. 28 to Dec. 8 was just wonderful! Four girls, Ruth -Ann Flaxbard of London along with her aunt Mae Keep of Fergus and cousin Joan Chamberlain of Elora and myself Carmel Sweeney (Zurich) all enjoyed being on the "Sun Princess" which had 14 decks and everything imaginable on it for the near- ly 2000 people it held. To start off we flew from was in the high 80s and the sea conditions were calm all the way. We met a lot of nice people and had some- thing going on all the time. Live musical shows, casino, and the most delicious fancy meals. You have to see it to believe it! Congratul- ations to Lionel and Vicki Wilder, RR1, Varna (By Gone Days in Zurich) who celebrated their 25th anniversary on Dec. 6. The next free bus ride to Bank of Montreal in Hensall is on Wed., Dec. 21 from the main corner by 9:30 a.m. The Bluewater Rest Home held its staff Christmas din- ner/party at Hessenland on Friday evening and a good time was had by all. A Christmas get-together was celebrated at the home of Don and Alice Masse (Parkside) on Sat., Dec. 10 for the families of the late (Avilla) Bill and Blanche Ducharme. Everyone gath- ered for a spe- cial mass at St. Peter's (St. Joseph) fol- lowed by a lovely dinner at Hessenland. The evening was spent rem- iniscing fond memories and everyone enjoyed an old fashion horse drawn hay ride and the rendi- tion of Cocodi- coda given by Gerard Ducharme. Mary Earle recently spent a week in Prince Edward Island visiting relatives and helping out her sister-in-law who is not well. The family of Lucille Masse held their Christmas Party and din- ner at the Zurich Complex last Saturday with children and spouses, grand and great grandchildren attending from various places. St. Boniface C.W.L. are hav- ing their Christmas meeting on Wed., Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. with Audrey Smith and Bridget Groot's ladies in charge. This is also an elec- tion meeting. Happy Birthday wish- es go out to Sandy Stephan (big 60) on Dec. 5, Stephanie Gelinas on Dec. 4 and Nora Corriveau who was 92 on Dec. 6. Happy Birthday to twins Keith and Ken Gingerich on Dec. 5. To Sandra Desjardine on Dec. 18 and Martin Gelinas on Dec. 13. The grade eight students of St. Boniface School are holding a draw for a lovely handmade Christmas quilt. Tickets are $1 each and are to raise money for their next school trip to Quebec City and Montreal in June. The draw will be held at their Christmas Concert on Tues., Dec. 20. Don't forget to save your stamps from the Christmas cards for St. Boniface C.W.L. The Zurich Scouts have been busy with their float in the Christmas parade on Dec. 4 and collect- ing can good items for the needy. They went swim- ming in Vanastra and stopped at Kay's station afterwards. The Beaver's and Cubs are having a Christmas party together at the Lutheran Church hall with hay rides, juice and cook- ies and some carolling. The Beaver's also went bowling and had a tail ceremony, baked cookies and are paint- ing wooden crafts. While the cubs went Panther Profile EXETER — On The Edge, which was host- ed last weekend here at the high school, went rather swell. The winner of the first XBox tournament, a gruelling test of endurance lasting 4.5 hours, was David Wagler. A nod of respect goes in his direction. Out of the seven teams and 28 people who played, he came out on top, and that ain't too bad. The rest of the night went smoothly also. Movies were watched, cards were played, popcorn was eaten. The organizers would like to thank the teachers and parents who supervised. Without your help On The Edge would not have hap- pened, and that would just be depressing. The organizers would also like to thank the local businesses who sponsored On The Edge. Without your contributions we would not have had any MATT MINE PANTHE PROFILE HEW R R prizes. And seriously, what's a tournament of any type without prizes? We hope On The Edge will happen again next year, as it was one heck of an enjoy- able event. Speaking of enjoyable events, how about that blood donor clinic? It's hap- pening today (Dec. 14). Christmas is coming fast and there are lots of things to do yet. Write cards, bake, shop, wrap gifts etc. Also remember the true meaning of the festive season and attend your church ser- vices.
