Kirkton Horticultural Society names new president
KIRKTON — Festive
Christmas decor
enhanced the entrance of
the Kirkton-Woodham
Community Centre as the
doors were opened and
Kirkton Horticultural
Society members and
guests enjoyed a delicious
potluck supper and mini
flower show on Dec. 5.
While flower judge
Cathy Filson viewed and
evaluated the flower
show entries, the audi-
ence was entertained by
designer Brenda
Campbell of Cozyn's
Garden Gallery in
Stratford.
Campbell skillfully
demonstrated the making
of outdoor wreaths,
swags and container dec-
orations. Using numerous
kinds of evergreens, dog-
wood branches and other
materials, beautiful holi-
day designs magically
appeared.
Many tips and sugges-
tions were given as audi-
ence members had their
Christmas decorating
questions answered.
President Elaine
Stephen then introduced
judge Cathy Filson, who
reviewed the flower show
entries, congratulating
the entrants on their fine
work.
Flower show chairper-
son Gertrude Willis then
announced the winners in
the individual categories;
Quadro Special:
* Phone a Friend theme,
Gertrude Willis;
* Best Design,
Rosemary Schaefer;
* Most Points in Show,
Elaine Stephen;
* Most Points for the
year, Sandra Kemp;
Secretary Jean
