HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Times Advocate, 2005-12-14, Page 9EXTENDED Wednesday, December 14, 2005 Exeter Times–Advocate 9 Kirkton Horticultural Society names new president KIRKTON — Festive Christmas decor enhanced the entrance of the Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre as the doors were opened and Kirkton Horticultural Society members and guests enjoyed a delicious potluck supper and mini flower show on Dec. 5. While flower judge Cathy Filson viewed and evaluated the flower show entries, the audi- ence was entertained by designer Brenda Campbell of Cozyn's Garden Gallery in Stratford. Campbell skillfully demonstrated the making of outdoor wreaths, swags and container dec- orations. Using numerous kinds of evergreens, dog- wood branches and other materials, beautiful holi- day designs magically appeared. Many tips and sugges- tions were given as audi- ence members had their Christmas decorating questions answered. President Elaine Stephen then introduced judge Cathy Filson, who reviewed the flower show entries, congratulating the entrants on their fine work. The business portion of the meeting concluded with guest Jim Mabee, vice president of the Ontario Horticultural Society conducting the installation of the 2006- 2007 slate of officers and directors of the Kirkton Horticultural Society. In conclusion, president Elaine Stephen intro- duced incoming president Rosemary Schaefer who gave a brief review of next year's program.
