SEAFORTH - Three
individuals from Huron
and Perth counties,
including Betty Brand of
Exeter, received awards
for outstanding communi-
ty service at the CCAC
Community Care Awards
Celebration Nov. 2.
The Community Care
Access Centres of Huron
and Perth counties pre-
sented the Community
Care Awards to recognize
and thank those who
make an exceptional con-
tribution through their
caring for others.
"We know that what
makes quality of care is
caring by the people who
deliver care services,"
says Perth County
Community Care Access
Centre board chairperson
Sandra Priestap.
"It is the warmth and
compassion and dedica-
tion to ensuring that each
person served is truly
cared for that makes
great community health
care."
Of the 17 individuals
nominated,
Brand
(Exeter), Barb
Dalgliesh
(Clinton), and
Tracy
Wareham
(Listowel) won
the CCAC
Community
Care Awards.
Other nomi-
nees included
Janine
Hamilton
(Mitchell),
Nancy Schaff (Stratford),
Dorothy Chapman
(Exeter), Cheryl McClure
(Blyth), Dr. Carolin
Shepherd (Seaforth), Jody
Brown (Dublin), Bea Kale

Township), Alvin Moore

Lobb
(Vanastra)
and Maurice
Jenkins
(Goderich).
"These peo-
ple define the
best of what
we do," said
CCAC execu-
tive director
Kathy
"We know that
what makes quality
of care is caring by
the people who
deliver care
services."
SANDRA PRIESTAP.
PERTH COUNTY
COMMUNITY CARE
ACCESS CENTRE BOARD
CHAIRPERSON
Scanlon.
"I am honoured to be
able to give them the
credit that they deserve.
They are all an important
part of our community -
the heart of a caring com-
munity."
The event also celebrat-
ed the work of the CCAC
staff and agencies that
deliver service and pro-
vide supplies on behalf of
the CCACs.
Also recognized were
the voluntary community
health agencies, physi-
cians, hospitals and long-
term care homes that
work closely with the
CCACs to provide support
that allows people to stay
in their homes.
Over 150 community
members and health care
workers turned out to cel-
ebrate community care.
The Community Care
Access Centre for Huron
and the Community Care
Access Centre Perth
County (CCACs) are com-
munity agencies that help
people develop an individ-
ualized, supportive health
care plan, and co-ordinate
health services to support
people in the community.
With one phone call to
either CCAC, people can
obtain information and
personal support services
that their family requires.
Whether it's meals on
wheels, nursing, therapies
or homemaking services,
the Community Care
Access Centres can
arrange services for peo-
ple who need to maintain
their independence at
home or, if necessary, in a
long-term care home.
Created in February
1997 with community
boards of directors, both
CCACs have developed
links and partnerships
throughout the health
care system to better inte-
grate services for the peo-
ple of Perth and Huron
counties.
Anyone can call the
CCAC to get assistance.
You do not need a referral
and there are no fees for
CCAC services.

access to community
health care in Huron
County, call (519) 527-
