Wednesday, November 23, 2005 Exeter Times—Advocate 13 Communion service in Goshen this Sunday By Joan Beierling VARNA CORRESPONDENT VARNA - Church service was in Goshen Church on Sunday. Flowers were placed in the sanc- tuary by the Laurie family in lov- ing memory of Joe's mother who passed away last Sunday. Congregational thoughts and prayers are with the Laurie fami- ly. Pastor Elly Van Bergen gave the congregation a very warm wel- come on such a beautiful Sunday. The childrens' time was "Heavenly Music" in which Elly spoke on angels to the children. She also showed them many angels. The choir's gift of music was "How We Love Jesus". New display at Grand Bend Library GRAND BEND - It only takes a moment to reach out to be a friend but to the one who needs you the memory never ends. A simple act of kindness to a person you don't know may plant a seed of friendship that for them will always grow. President Cass Lovie chaired the November Grand Bend Women's Institute meeting and called the meeting to order with the above words of wisdom. Cass reminded us of the rug hooking course on Nov. 28. We were told of the 2006 Conference in London in August and the Carri bean project. The story books, Quincy: A Northern Adventure were distributed. We will begin to quilt in January. Members were asked to bring articles for the Children's Hospital for the March meeting. A discus- sion concerning the Women's Institute logo being attached to the entrance signs at Grand Bend was held. Plans to host the Huron South District Annual Meeting in May 2006 were finalized. A new brochure containing the back- ground and information of the Grand Bend Women's Institute will be printed for distribution. A new display at the Grand Bend Library titled "Parlour Games" will be set up shortly. Check it out!. Donna Lovie presented impor- tant information concerning you "Lost Wallet". Telephone num- bers, material required and addresses were listed for us to use in case of emergency. We now realize it takes money and time to replace these important papers. The Tweedsmuir History Book is to be updated. An outline for a family legacy was distributed and discussed. This will include sto- ries, profiles of relatives, recipes, school work and wedding invita- tions. Treasures of members, and antiques in the form of jewelry, medals, china, crystal and furni- ture should be documented in pic- ture and words. The next meeting is Dec. 15 at Aunt Gussie's at 12 noon. A Christmas meal will be enjoyed. Sharon Bullock will demonstrate embellished clothing. New mem- bers and visitors are always wel- come at our meetings. Contact Cass Lovie at 238-2727 for more information. The Women's Institute is a group of your friends and neighbors actively involved in the home, community and coun- try.
