Bill Batten tournament another big success
The South Huron Novice Rep team won the A championship in the Bill Batten tournament on the weekend

Ron Ferguson ringette
tournament set to play
EXETER — The annual Ron Ferguson Memorial
Tournament in conjunction with the Exeter District
Ringette Association will take place this coming
weekend.
The tournament will be held Saturday and
Sunday, and will be played at both the Hensall and
Exeter Arena's.
Games will start at both venue's at 8:a.m each
day with the last game slated to start at 7 p.m each
day.
There will be 30 teams competing in age divisions
from Bunny (ages 6-7) up to the Belle level (ages
16-17).
Teams from all over South and Mid western
Ontario will compete over the two days.
Along with the Exeter teams, other centres being
represented include Waterloo, Tillsonburg,
Mitchell, Elora -Fergus, Kitchener, St. Marys, Owen
Sound, Goderich, St Catherines, Dorchester, St.
Thomas, Seaforth, Ripley and Woolwich.
Spectators are welcome to come out and watch.
Admission is free.
On Saturday the Petite's (ages 10-11) and
Tweens (ages 12-13) will take to the ice in Exeter,
with the Bunny Red team and Novices (ages 8-9)
taking to the ice in Hensall.
On Sunday the Junior team (ages 14-15) will play
their games in Exeter and the Bunny White team
along with the Belles will play in Hensall.
So come out and enjoy some exciting ringette
over the weekend. There will be 50/50 draws,
Fling -a -Ring, Prize Tables and much more at both
arena's.
6-0 win for Jets
ILDERTON — The
Lucan Ilderton Jets
had a pair of firsts on
the weekend, playing
their first game in
Ilderton in 25 years, as
well as posting their
first shutout in as
many years,
with a 6-0
blanking of the
Clinton Radars.
The Jets were
playing in
Ilderton to
express their
appreciation to
Ilderton fans,
and came out
strong in the
first period,
building a 3-0
lead after the
first period and
rolling to a 6-0
win.
Offence for the
Jets was sup-
plied by Rob
Silver, Tim
Parsons, Matt
McFarlane with
a pair and Corey
Smith.
"We got off to such a
good start, a lot of it
was the guys playing in
Ilderton," said general
manager Rob Andrews
who added it was
probably the Jet's most
complete game of the
year.
Picking up
the shutout for
the Jets was
Dave Riddell.
The Jets have
a pair of home
games this
weekend,
starting with a
visit from
Elora Saturday
night at 8:30
p.m. before
Wingham visits
Sunday after-
noon for a 3
p.m. game.
The Jets are
tied for second
with Durham at
16 points, two
back of league
leading
Shelburne.
