Legion members
visit Queensway
HENSALL — Men and Women of the Hensall Legion
attended Queensway's Remembrance Day Service on
Friday Nov. 11. Pastor Elly Van Bergen of Varna &
Goshen United Churches led the Service with Belva Fuss
as volunteer pianist. We appreciate the support and
involvement of the Hensall Legion throughout the year,
weather they're visiting, sponsoring a Bingo, or helping
with a party. One of the residents was proud to have his
uniformed grandson, who is an officer with the Cadets
attend the service with him.
Lori Burt, Registered Massage Therapist visited
Monday with several residents benefiting from her skill.
The Bethel Reform women came in Monday afternoon
to provide assistance and prizes at bingo. They will be
with us each Monday in November and following the
bingo games they lead a hymn sing for the residents
who wish to take part.
The Rev. Sheila McGregor of Crediton United Church
led Worship Tuesday afternoon. Belva Fuss was volun-
teer pianist and we are thankful to have her recovered
and able to play for our weekly services again. In the
evening the Christian Reform singers delivered their
program of music for residents. Following the program
residents were pleased to have them stay for a time of
visiting and refreshments.
Several competitive games of euchre passed the after-
noon quickly on Wednesday when volunteer Marg Cole
was in to organize three tables of players.
Music Therapist, Lisa Stewart was on site Thursday
with a Remembrace Day theme as she led her small
musical group in the lounge and then worked with sev-
eral people individually. Music is powerful and we are
fortunate to have Lisa's service at Queensway weekly.

Substitute for antibiotics?
GUELPH — A team of
scientists in Guelph have
isolated and identified
two polyphenol (antioxi-
dant) compounds from
Chinese green tea.
Both show promise of
substituting for antibi-
otics.
The most active
polyphenol compounds
and crude extracts of
green tea were found to
be effective in fighting
some major foodborne
pathogens like, E.coli,
Salmonella and
Staphylococcus aureas.
Since green tea con-
tains high levels of
polyphenols, crude
extracts of the com-
pounds could become a
natural alternative to
controlling foodborne dis-
eases and reducing the
use of synthetic antibi-
otics.
