cooking with memories
BY DEBBY WAGLER
IT IS FUN TO TAKE FOOD ALONG WHEN VISITING. SOMETIMES
THOUGH IT IS TOUGH TO COME UP WITH WHAT YOU MIGHT
TAKE! THIS RECIPE IS FROM MY TEENAGE YEARS AND I TRIED
IT FIRST AT A CHURCH POTLUCK AND THEN MADE IT MANY
TIMES THEREAFTER! You CAN MAKE THE MEATBALLS AHEAD
AND FREEZE THEM. PUT THEM INTO YOUR FAVOURITE SAUCE
IN THE SLOW COOKER OR IN THE SAUCE PROVIDED WITH
THIS RECIPE. ENJOY!
SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS
2 Ib lean hamburger
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
Sprinkle of onion salt
2 eggs
I/4 cup chili sauce
4 slices of bread cubed
1/2 cup milk
Mix well and roll into meat balls. Bake at 350 for about 20
minutes till nicely browned.
Sauce:
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 tsp ginger
2 tbsp soya sauce
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup brown sugar
Boil and let thicken. Pour over meat. Keep warm till served.A
great addition to any potluck. Depending on the size of
meatball this can be used for an appetizer served up with
toothpicks.

PLAN H6-3-356 Model of Simplicity This two-storey, three bedroom family home, with its sloping roof and attached garage, is a model
of simplicity. The main entrance, tucked under a covered veranda, has a handy coat cupboard to the left, near the stairway to the
second floor. Beyond is a great room with a fitted gas fireplace, with access to a covered deck overlooking the back garden. This room
boasts a partial double -height ceiling, and opens to the foyer through an archway. The kitchen features a raised eating bar for informal
meals, as well as a pantry. Flowing from the kitchen is a dining area with a double -height ceiling and access to a covered deck, the
perfect spot for the barbecue. Also on the main floor is the master suite, with a walk-in closet and ensuite. Its windows look over the
veranda to the front garden. A powder room and linen closet are conveniently located nearby. On the second floor are two bedrooms and
an adjacent bathroom. A loft area would provide space for a computer and home office. Nearby is a storage room. Ceilings, except for
those at double -height, are nine feet. The double garage has windows on two sides, and access to the back as well as to the side
garden. The home's exterior finishes include shingles, vertical siding and painted trim. Four stone pillars embellish the front. Stone also
accents the facade of the double garage. This home is 52 feet wide and 48 feet deep, totalling 1814 square feet.
