The Times Advocate, 2005-11-09, Page 1616 Exeter Times—Advocate Wednesday,November 9, 2005 Thames Road United sings hymns of peace and remembers those who served By Rhoda Rohde THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT THAMES ROAD - Mr. Dave Williams was in charge of the Remembrance Day Church Service on Sunday morning. The Introit was sung, Eleanor Williams let the Christ Candle. Dave williams lit the red candle from the Christ Candle symbolizing sacrifice and a calling for remembrance. Eleanor Williams let the white candle from the Christ Candle symbolizing transparency the pure in heart. Eleanor Williams lit the blue candle of hope. Dave Williams spoke between each lighting of candles. Everyone shook hands and Dave gave words of wel- come. Sharon Lynn gave a Minute for Council. Dave read the announcements and led in the Call to Worship responsively. Gerald Cunnington, Margaret Stewart and Ashley McKnight each gave readings about "Lest We Forget". We then had two minutes of silence and Dave read "In Flanders Fields". The Children's Hymn "In The Bulb There Is A Flower" was sung. Dave told the children a story "Circle of God's Love" which was real interesting. The choir sang "Universal Prayer of Peace" accompa- nied by the organist Jean Hodgert. Psalm 78:1-7 was read responsively. Dave Williams read Matthew 25:1- 13 and the title of his message was "Out of 0i1!" Joan Skinner and Helen Weston received the offering as well as being the greeters and Beatrice Dawson had an item for the Food Bank. There were quite a number of Honor Rolls and pic- tures at the front of the church. Each family or individual is asked to pay $2.00 tax for census taking and small change will be needed if you wish to buy articles in the Market Place. Dress appropriately for visiting outdoor scenes. Non-perishable gifts for local food banks are welcome.
