It has been named the "REST WELL" cam- paign and will focus on purchasing items that directly contribute to the comfort of the residents who live at the home. Board fundraising chair, Ron Heimrich, said, "we want to ensure that the resi- dents living here have the best possible quality of life. These people are entrusted to our care, and as an organization and a community we need to keep them safe and contented." The "REST WELL" cam- paign target for the first year is $36,000, and mate- rials will be delivered to area mailboxes within two weeks. At the beginning, "REST WELL" is dedicated to replacing all 65 resident beds in the home. All the beds in the home today are an older style, and offer only manual position adjustments. With donations to the "REST WELL" campaign, the home will be able to buy new electrically -operated beds. Bed positioning for personal comfort will be much easi- er for both residents and staff. Mr. Heimrich added, "everyone knows the real value of good rest and good sleep, and this campaign will enhance the residents' ability to achieve that. We hope that the community will recognize the value of this cam- paign and give it their full support." The beds are valued at between $1,500 and $2,000 each, and the initial campaign will take several years to achieve its first goal. The launch of the "REST WELL" campaign follows an announcement by Carol Mitchell, M.P.P. for Huron -Bruce, that Blue Water Rest Home will be receiving funding from the Ontario Government to support their redevelopment project. Since Blue Water is a charitable, non -for-profit organization, the Ministry of Health and Long -Term Care provid- ed an Exceptional Circumstance policy to ensure that the home will receive its government redevel- opment funds up front. This funding provides a portion of the redevelopment costs, and the home is required to finance the balance. The home's equity is derived from fundraising, reserves and the up- front ministry funding, and the combined amount should enable Blue Water to successfully mortgage the balance of the construction. The home has also received generous support from the County of Huron in the form of a mortgage guarantee when it is required. The home and the ministry are still ABCA education programs working on finalizing an overall construction bud- get and funding amounts required for various areas. "Through our fundraising efforts and through redevelopment, we want to achieve the best home environment delivering the highest quality care possible, and continue to serve the population of this area for many years to come," said Martha Craig, administrator of Blue Water Rest Home. "The shared goal of everyone in this organization is to provide the comfort, dignity, privacy, and peace of mind that our residents deserve." Blue Water Rest Home has been a significant part of the Zurich community for 40 years.
