cooking with memories
BY DEBBY WAGLER
OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS WE WILL ALL BE GOING HERE
AND THERE FOR THIS AND THAT! IT IS FUN TO HAVE SOME
RECIPES ON HAND THAT MAKE 'FOOD ON THE GO'
ADVENTUROUS! THE FOLLOWING RECIPE IS A NEW ONE I
HAVE EXPERIMENTED WITH AND HAD GREAT SUCCESS WITH
OVER THANKSGIVING. MY FAMILY HAS ASKED FOR THE
RECIPE AND I PROMISED I WOULD BE PUTTING IT IN THE
PAPER FOR ALL OF US TO ENJOY. IT IS TO BE USED LIKE A
SPREAD WITH CRACKERS OR PITA TRIANGLES.
CRUNCHY CHEESE DIP
1-19 oz can pineapple drained well (reserve I tbsp juice)
1 pkg cream cheese, softened
1 tbsp juice from pineapple
1 rib of celery chopped fine
I can of water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1/4 cup chopped fine, red pepper
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 cup grated marble cheese
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tbsp chopped chives or green onion
1 cup chopped fine, pecans
Mix all ingredients, place in a serving dish, cover and keep
refrigerated. 1 found it tasted better the next day so make
ahead. A great change from the traditional cheese ball!
Crediton W. I. relaxes
CREDITON - The regular monthly meeting of the
Crediton Women's Institute was held October 26 at the
Crediton hall.
The roll call, "What have you changed to be more
healthy?" was answered by 11 members.
Cheryl MacLeod and Chris Vanhie chaired the pro-
gram. The theme was "Current Health Issues". Cheryl
commented on "improving your memory tonight",
"breathing easier" and how to "chill out" by de -stress-
ing yourself. Chris led members through a 20 minute
routine of relaxation and breathing. She commented
on stress and anxiety problems, reminding the ladies
to "not sweat the small stuff" and get plenty of exer-
cise.
President Alma Davey was in charge of the business
part of the meeting. Plans were made for the upcom-
ing Board meeting in Exeter on November 2. The
annual Seniors Christmas Dinner will be held on
November 21 at the Crediton hall.
Cheryl and Chris provided a delicious lunch ending
an enjoyable and healthy evening.
