Panthers at St.Anne's Invitational tournament
EXETER — The South
Huron District High
School junior girls lost
35-13 to an excellent St.
Mike's team Oct. 26.
The team played hard
but were overmatched
on the day. Julia
Roberts had four points
and all in all coach
Terry O'Rourke said the
team put forth a good
effort.
The senior girls were
in the St. Anne's
Invitational tournament
on the weekend.
The team played
Stratford Central in the
opener but had some
early problems defend-
ing the three.
A late surge made the
game close but the final
score was still in
Stratford's favour 42-
33.
Melissa Smith had 10
and Janelle Erb had 16
in the losing effort.
In their first game in
the consolation round,
the team came out
shooting and rebound-
ing against a surprised
Mitchell squad.
All the Panthers were
on the score sheet in the
win with at least six
points.
The final score was
60-3 with Smith leading
the way with 15 points
and some great moves
to the basket.
Erb had 11 points and
Steph Dietrich was also
in double digits with 10.

team with 13 rebounds
and many assists.

Novice loss
EXETER — The Novice Local
League #1 team suffered its first
loss of the season, as Thedford's
playmaking earned them a 4-0 win.
But the game wasn't without posi-
tive features for South Huron as
Paige Lightfoot in net demonstrated
excellent sliding action across the
front of the net to make some
excellent saves; but a high back-
hand at the end of the first period
put Thedford ahead by one.
Lightfoot was helped out by Ryan
Neeb, Hayden Bowman, Mitchell
Miller and Bradly Regier on
defence.
On the breakaway several times
were South Huron's Kean Dwyer
and Nathan McDonald, but it just
wasn't meant to be.
Strong puck clearing by Jared
Denotter and Denver Homuth
meant the boards saw a lot of
action.
Gritty play from Patrick Nedd and
excellent line changes from Dillon
Haist and Josh Stanlake added to
the effort.
Brody Reid and Jacob Hrudka
also demonstrated good skating
throughout the game.
