Mitchell By Hazel Davis SAINTSBURY CORRESPONDENT SAINTSBURY — St. Patrick's was decorated throughout with fall flowers, pot- ted plants, fruits and vegetables as a large crowd of visitors, friends and the congregation gathered to meet our new Huron -Perth Archdeacon, The Rev. Dr. Lorne Mitchell a priest at St. James' Stratford and to honour St. Patrick's retiring priest, The Rev. Stanley Jay and his wife Liz on their 10 year period at St. Patrick's. Scripture lessons were read by Courtney MacGillivray, Crystal Ellerington, Corbin MacGillivray and Suzanne Davis, The Archdeacon gave the Holy Gospel and Hazel Davis was delighted to have been invit- ed to give the homily and to pay tribute to Rev. Jay and Liz along with all events that St. Patrick's have accomplished during the time Oct. 1, 1995 - Oct. 30, 2005. Heather MacGillivray and her dad Hugh Davis favoured with the duet "How Great Thou Art". Robert Atkinson was remembered in prayers of the people, Rector's Warden Margaret Carroll, and People's Warden Bob Macgillivray presented The Jays with "gift of money", 'a photo album' with special events, "St. Patrick's Book Marks" and a "framed hand crafted tribute". Rev. Jay and Liz gave their thanks for their wonderful years at St. Patrick's. Rev. Carroll was greeter for the service. Calab MacGillivray and Bryan Ellerington pre- sented the offer- ing. Starr Davis as crossbearer, Katie -Scarlett MacGillivray acolyte and Courtney MacGillivray assistant to Rev. Jay. Archdeacon Mitchell and Rev. Stanley were officiants for the Holy Eucharist. All were invit- ed to the Racy Memorial Hall for a time of Fellowship and refreshments. Guests were welcomed from Lucan, Dungannon, Penetang- uishine, London, St. Marys, Centralia, Exeter, Toronto and Stratford. A wonderful trib- ute to a marvel- lous couple. Saturday the Carrolls were guests of the Iredales on Saturday evening honour- ing Matthew on his 19th birth- day.
