Jersey swap — Central Huron Secondary School
principal Herb Klassen, left, and South Huron District
High School principal Jeff Reaburn recently swapped
school hockey jerseys as part of a challenge to see
which school could raise the most for the Huron
County Christmas Bureau.The principal whose
school raised the second highest total per student
was to wear the other school's hockey jersey for a
day. Since the results were so close, with the total
contribution about $16,000, both principals decided
to wear the other school's jersey. (photo/submitted)

Junior team plays strongly
EXETER - The South Huron
District High School junior girls vol-
leyball team played its first league
games recently and came home
with five decisive wins losing its only
game 25-22.
The matches were a pleasure to
watch as the whole squad played
with lots of grit and talent while try-
ing to master the 6-2 rotation.
Mairead O'Rourke and Evelyn
Johns were strong blocking at the
net. Spiking finesse was displayed
by Julia Roberts, Alyssa Becker and
O'Rourke with serving prowess
from Jenna Easton, Danielle Daters
and Melanie Smith. Kacie Erb com-
petitively multi -tasked in the setting
and libero positions.
Smith and Nicole Insley were very
strong as rookie setters. Kelli
McGregor and Teri Stuckless had
lots of key passes throughout the
day with McGregor nicely digging
up a hard spike to score a point.
Mention has to go to Carrie Powe
who was amazing on the court with
perfect passes. Captains O'Rourke
and Easton led their team by exam-
ple with their skill and enthusiasm
throughout the matches.
The juniors play home matches
Jan. 9 against Listowel and Madill.
