As previously reported, the pro- posed sewer project for the two vil- lages hit a major stumbling block last week when the municipality was denied a two thirds grant from the Canada -Ontario Municipal Rural Infrastructure fund (COMRIF). It was the second time South Huron has been denied a COMRIF grant and the municipality doesn't think it would be successful should a third opportunity arise to apply to COM - RIF. MAY 10 • A meeting hosted by the South Huron Residents' Association to fur- ther discuss the $5.8 million Crediton -Centralia sewage system is planned in Crediton. The meeting is the result of a meeting last Wednesday at South Huron Rec Centre which brought out about 30 concerned citizens from Crediton and Centralia, allow- ing for an open discussion without South Huron council prese MAY 17 • The residential side of Huron Park has been sold. Charlene Deyarmond of the Ontario Realty Corporation (ORC) confirmed to the Times -Advocate that the 117 -acre, 355 home park has been sold for $8 5 million to WCP Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities Inc., a company with an Ontario regional office in Wasaga Beach and a head office in Calgary. The deal closed May 5. MAY 24 • Huron Bruce MP Paul Steckle voted last week against extending Canada's military mission in Afghanistan for two more years. "I voted against but it has nothing to do with the extension," says Steckle. The vote was 149 to 145, to con- tinue the mission. MAY 31 • Huron OPP are seeking public assistance in a robbery May 23 at the K&S Westlake Shell gas bar on Main Street in Exeter around 1:10 p.m. A male demanded money from the employee, stealing an undisclosed amount from the business.
