The play was Guys and Dolls, at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School where he attends. Ian took an excellent part in acting and singing staring as "Benny Southstreet." The family of Lottie Grenier held their Christmas dinner on Sunday at St. Boniface Parish hall. The Christmas staff party dinner of Murray Armstrong Contracting for 24 people included their spouses was held at Erb's Country Kitchen last Friday night followed by having fun at Maverick's paint -ball in Zurich. NewYear's eve gala event Tickets are now on sale for the New Year's Eve Gala to be held at the Zurich Complex on Sun., Dec. 31 from 8 p.m - 2 a.m. Cost is $25 per per- son which includes a mid- night lunch provided by Jerry Rader's. Music will be supplied by the live band "The New Boys." This event is being hosted by the Zurich Bean Festival Committee. Pick up your tickets this week at Erb's or Tasty Nu Bake shop or call Carol Prang at 519-236-4661 as soon as possible. Anyone who has some 150th Anniversary tickets and money for Zurich's Sesquicentennial are asked to please return them this week or as soon as possible to Hilda Lansbergen or Carmel Sweeney before the New Year's Eve dance on Dec. 31. The draws will be made that evening! Be sure to come out and cele- brate our Last Blast for 2006! May we offer our sincere sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Joe Denomme; Deb Riesberry; and Laird Jacobe all of the Zurich area that died this past week. Just to let you know that Erb's Country Kitchen will be closed for holidays from Dec. 25 - Jan. 2. See you in the New Year! The Christmas Concert at the Zurich Public School will be held on Wed., Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. in the gym. Their Penny Sale will be in the library. Bring along a canned good item or two for the Food Bank at Blessings in Zurich. On Fri., Dec. 22 there will be a Live Nativity at Zion Lutheran Church in Dashwood from 6 -7:30 p.m. outside. Everyone welcome. There was a free ham supper for those in need of a holiday meal on Mon., Dec. 18 at the Zurich Mennonite Fellowship Hall. St. Peter's C.W.L. (St. Joseph) held their Christmas social get together on Dec. 17 in their parish hall and enjoyed doing some crafts, refreshments and a visit from Santa. Travelers Len and Jean Leng of R.R.#2 Zurich returned home recently from a lovely two to three day Oriental cruise from Nov. 23 to Dec. 15. Some of the highlights of their trip were stopping at such places as China, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam with their last stop being Singapore where they flew back home from. The couple were celebrating their recent 50th Anniversary that was in October. Welcome back to town: Eugene and Shirley O'Brien who have moved to the Stone Meadow Subdivision and condos from Goderich. The family of Chris and Sandra Regier have moved from their home in town on Goshen North to R.R. #2 Zurich. The Zurich Lions Club held their Christmas din- ner/social with their spouses last Thursday night at Erb's Country Kitchen. They enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings fol- lowed by a gift exchange and fun time. A good time was had by all the kids from the two schools in the village that went to free skating at the complex last Friday night. ZURICH NEWS POLICE BRIEF Stolen vehicle involved in collision SOUTH HURON — Huron OPP responded to a single motor vehicle rollover Dec. 11 at around 5:00 p.m. Officers arrived to find that a 1999 Ford Explorer had left the road and entered a ditch on Huron Street in South Huron. Officers learned from the youth driving, that the vehicle had been taken from his parent's residence without their consent. An 18 - year -old male resident of Bluewater was arrested and charged. The descendants of Bill and Blanche Ducharme held their annual family get together on Dec. 9 at the home of Leo and Lindsey Ducharme in Grand Bend. They enjoyed having supper at Aunt Gussie's then back home again to open gifts and listen to Gerard sing and play the guitar. Happy birthday Birthday wishes go out to Iva Bedard on Dec. 22, Rob Johnston on Dec. 23, Laura Gelinas on Dec. 24, then on Christmas day to the Masse's being: Archie, Doug and Joe, Judy Voogel; Mary Brand and Rose -Mary Bedard. Some of the more active residents at the rest home have been busy going on shopping trips to Goderich and out to lunch at vari- ous places. They went to the school concert "Angels and Advent" at St. Boniface Church on Dec. 19 in the afternoon. Hearing Christmas carols sung by students of the Zurich Public School also from St. Peter's Choir. The Grand Bend Senior's band will entertain at the home on Dec. 22 at 2:30 p.m. On Fri., Dec. 22 the stu- dents from the Zurich Public School will be going skating at the complex and are asked to wear helmets for their safety. This is their last day of classes until Jan. 8. The family of Pat and Evelyn Regier celebrated Christmas together on Saturday at St. Boniface Parish Hall with their chil- dren and spouses coming from various places. The Zurich Cubs recent- ly worked on making a Christmas toy at Murray Armstrong's shop. They put a Christmas letter together in the computer lab at school. They were outdoors looking at stars one night and had their Christmas party on Mon., Dec. 18 with a gift exchange. Justin Soudant is home for the holidays for a cou- ple of weeks from Texas where he works on a ship. He is visiting his parents Ted and Janet and family members.
