Sherwoods doubled

Irish split two
LUCAN — The Lucan Irish split
a pair of games last week, get-
ting edged 7-6 at home by
Thamesford Dec. 6 before
rebounding with a victory in
Lambeth Dec. 10.
Lucan has a 10-11-0 record
for 20 points with North
Middlesex, which has 40 points
starting to put some space
between it and Lambeth which
holds down second place in the
Yeck Conference with 32 points.
Tavistock
continues to
lead the
league
overall with
42 points
while Delhi is
in second in the McConnell
Conference with 38 points.
Lucan has three games this
week, starting tonight
(Wednesday) at 7:45 p.m. when
they host West Lorne.
Lucan will be in Mt. Brydges
Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and North
Middlesex Sunday afternoon at
2:30 p.m.

Panthers basketball
EXETER — The South Huron Senior Boys basketball
team opened their season with a 41-16 loss to
Goderich Dec. 6.
Coach Terry O'Rourke said the team didn't play that
badly, they just couldn't buy a basket. A.J. Miller
scored eight points and Nick Williams added five.
The Panthers played in the St. Marys tournament on
the weekend.
On Dec. 8 the Panthers played a good game but lost
to St. Thomas St. Joe's 52-40.
Lachlan Macgregor scored 16 points followed by
Jordan Maslan and Ben Hodgins with six points each.
Roger Mills added five points.
On Saturday South Huron lost 51-39 to Parkhill.
Macgregor had nine points, Seth Weber had eight
while Williams scored six and Mills had five points.
In the seventh place game South Huron defeated St.
Anne's 45-29 with Macgregor scoring 17, Brent Johns
getting nine and Scott Godkin adding six.
Miller and Seth Weber also played well all weekend,
said O'Rourke, who added it was a good effort by
everyone and the team continues to improve.
In the Huron -Perth Girls all-star basketball game in
Goderich Dec. 6, South Huron was represented in the
junior game by Kacie Erb, Julia Roberts and Mairead
O'Rourke.
All three presented South Huron well, said O'Rourke.
Erb played good defence and Roberts also played well
defensively and scored five points.
Mairead O'Rourke also played well scoring 15 points
and was selected as a game MVP.

Sherwoods dropped a 4-2 deci-
sion to the Tavistock Royals
Dec. 9 in Hensall to drop their
record to 6-6-1 for 13 points.
The Lucan-Ilderton Jets con-
tinue to lead the league with 25
points while Clinton is three
points behind.
Tavistock has 20 points while
Goderich is tied with Hensall at
13.
In the Northern conference
Palmerston leads with 22 points
with Lucknow one behind and
Shelburne is in third at 20
points. Ripley and Elora remain
tied with 18 points.
The Jets will be in Exeter on
Saturday at 5 p.m. to face the
Sherwoods with a dinner and
dance to follow. Tickets are $20
and are available from
Sherwood players.
The Sherwoods are in
Monkton Friday night at 8:30
p.m.
