Sherwoods roll over MonktonWildcats 8-1
HENSALL- The Hensall
Sherwoods split a pair of games on
the weekend, hammering the
Monkton Wildcats 8-1 Dec. 2 in
Hensall.
The Sherwoods faced the
Tavistock Royals in Zurich Dec. 3
and came out on the short end of a
7-1 score.
The games give Hensall a 6-5-1
record.
The Sherwoods had a 1-0 lead
after the first period against
Monkton on a power play goal from
Daryl Bourne before breaking the
game open in the second.
Two goals from Chris Downie and
singles from Scott Davies and
Jeremy Vanbergen built a 5-0 lead
for the Sherwoods.
Davies and Vanbergen each added
their second of the night and Jeremy
Geoffrey notched one more as the
Sherwoods rolled to an 8-1 win.
But it was Tavistock with most of
the offence Sunday in Zurich as they
came away with a 7-1 win.

this weekend when they host
Tavistock again Saturday at 7:30
p.m.

Charity mask auction
Burlington - As expected, the final
countdown of the 2006 Source For
Sports One -Of -A -Kind Mask Auction
saw some last minute action.
Ken Danby's recreation of his
painting 'At The Crease' on a goalie
mask, stole the spotlight as it sold
for $15,150 in support of spinal
injury research.
547 The winning bid went to Stephan
382 Mravinac of Calgary, Alberta, a
471 father of two who wanted to pur-
539 chase a piece of one of his child -
719 hood memories for his own chil-
506 dren.
"In elementary school I had a
136 binder with that print on it, which I
101 would sketch and the principle
164 hung up my drawing in the school.
141 'At The Crease' brings back a lot
of memories from my childhood",
220 says 41 -year-old sports and art
151
enthusiast Stephan Mravinac.
"It was something I wanted, and
having two children also motivated
me to buy it so I could help prevent
spinal injuries in other kids", he
added.
Danby's mask was followed by
Patrick Roy's autographed Hockey
Hall of Fame Induction mask which
sold for $2,900.
The 2006 Women's Olympic
Hockey Gold Medalist autographed
mask, the 2006 IIHF World Junior
Champions autographed mask and
the 2006 Paralympics Men's Sledge
Hockey autographed mask com-
bined brought in an additional
$3,650.
The 2006 lineup of masks can be
seen on display at the Hockey Hall
of Fame in Toronto throughout
