(photo/Nina Van Lieshout) By Nina Van Lieshout TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF LUCAN BIDDULPH — Alex Westman, Lucan Biddulph's new Ward 3 Granton and area coun- cilor was the only new face sworn in during Monday night's council meeting. Mayor Tom McLaughlin began by "welcoming and congratulating Alex on his election victory." He also reiterated to council, goals made in 2003 that have been reached or are well on their way, including managing tax increase, bringing developers to the area, supporting the Lucan and Area Heritage Committee and more. McLaughlin encouraged the new council to continue on, obtaining new accomplishments. Some new goals for the next four years are; fiscal manage- ment, continuing with economic development, bringing more doc- tors to the municipality and more. McLaughlin said these will be achieved through encouraging and respecting eachother, as well as communicating and teamwork. At the Nov. 30 council meeting, former Ward 3 Coun. Doug Anderson was thanked by McLaughlin and council for his 12 years of service to the community. "I think you've represented Ward 3 very well," says McLaughlin, adding that Anderson was "totally committed to serving the community." Anderson was particularly rec- ognized for attributing much time and efforts to the Lake Huron Water Supply, sewage and the Granton community, especially the Granton Park. "Twelve years, boy that goes by really fast," says Anderson, adding that he is very proud of the accomplishments he has made over his 12 years on council.
