Jets double Dogs
By Pat Bolen
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
LUCAN - The Lucan-Ilderton Jets took over
first place in the Southern conference over the
weekend with a 6-3 win over the Thedford Dirty
Dogs and a loss for Clinton at the hands of
Wingham.
Thedford was up 2-1 at the end of one period
with Darrell Parsons scoring for Lucan-Ilderton.
The Jets took the lead in the second with three
goals from Tim Parsons, Todd Hunt and Jason
Davies.
Davies and Brad Yeo put the game away in the
third with two more goals for the 6-3 win.
Andrews said the Jets took a lot of penalties,
which was the reason the game was close.
"They (Thedford) were geared up ready to play
and our guys played right into their hands...it's
that sense of being ready to play right from the
start.
"They seem to play just well enough to win, but
once you get to playing those teams like Hensall,
Tavistock and Clinton, if you come out like we
did, it's going to come back and bite you."
The Jets have three games in the next week
starting Nov. 24 in Monkton at 8:30 p.m. before
they are in Ilderton against Wingham Nov. 25 at
8:30 p.m.
The Jets are in Tavistock Nov. 29 at 8:45 p.m.
for a makeup game.
With Wingham coming off their defeat of
Clinton and having won five in a row, Andrews
said the Jets won't have any easy games again
this weekend.
"Monkton plays awful tough in their barn. You
go there and you want to be ready for a one -goal
game. Wingham has been on a tear and we know
what Tavistock is like."
