Rev. Judith Ritchie lit the Christ candle and gave words of welcome, and people passed the Peace. The Introit Rejoice In the Lord Always was sung. Rev. Judith led in the call to worship in unison and the prayer responsively. The opening hymn All People That on Earth was sung. Rev. Judith read the announcements and lit the red candle for Peace. The Epistle reading Hebrews 10:11-14 was read by Rev. Judith. She spent some time with Justin Pym for story time. Everyone sang May The God of Hope Go With Us. Psalm 138 was read responsively. The choir sang God's Eternal Love accompanied by the organist Jean Hodgert. The Gospel Lesson Mark 13:1-8 was read by Rev. Judith. The hymn Christ Is Made The Sure Foundation was sung and the Affirmation of Our Faith "A New Creed was read in unison. John and Marilyn Pym received the offering and were also the greeters. Grant Us, God the Grace was sung and Rev. Judith led in prayer and also the Prayers of the People. Everyone sang The Church is Wherever. Rev. Judith gave the commissioning and pronounced the benediction. Everyone sang the choral bene- diction and then we went downstairs where the Outreach M. and S. had prepared a delicious lunch of sandwiches, relishes, cake and beverages which brought the morning service to a nice close. Announcements Rev. Judith's Expected Hours: Mon., Nov. 20 - Sun., Nov. 26 is very busy, the following is a tentative schedule. Thurs., Nov. 23 1 - 6 p.m., Fri., Nov. 24 The Bethlehem Walk, Sun., Nov., 26 morning worship, evening - results of auction, potluck dinner As usual contact at home through M& P. Sunday School Dates: Nov. 26, Dec. 10 and 17. Future Events Nov. 5 - 26 Christian Education hosting a Silent Auction. Please bring in items for auction. Finance Committee to host supper on Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. Silent a free will hot dog lunch hosted by the Christian Education Committee with the money being donated to the M&S Fund and after, families will be able to make an Advent wreath. Rev. Judith is looking for decorations for the advent wreaths (eg. small Christmas Balls, tiny gift boxes such as ones used in corsages, greenery etc.) Please bring items for Food Bank on Dec. 3. Dec. 24 - Family Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Sunday at 7:30 p.m. All God's children are welcome at this special service. Rev. Judith and numerous helpers are plan- ning a communion service with a tableau of the Christmas Story instead of a meditation. Although we plan to use real candles with holders at the close of the service, there will be glow sticks for the children. Beware!! Rev. Judith is on the lookout for shepherds, angels and wisefolks - of all ages and both genders. She is really praying/hoping for volunteers. Extended family home for the holidays are welcome to participate. The Committee of the local United Churches will be having a joint service on Sun., Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. in the small gym at South huron High School. There will be a New Year celebration at noon. Praise Band of Jesus Christ from Acton will be joining the service. Personals Sympathy of the community is extended to Paul and Virginia Warwick and Brett in the sudden passing of Virginia's brother in law the late Dr. Patrick Wall of New Dundee. He passed away in China recently. Get well wishes are extended to Millie Fulton and Earl Coultis. They are in different hospitals. THAMES ROAD NEWS Auction results following the meal. Canada C)n Golden Paws POLICE BRIEFS Attempted car theft in Exeter EXETER — Sometime during the night of Nov. 14 and the early morning hours of Nov. 15 unknown suspects attempted to steal a vehicle from Huron Motor Products on London Road in Exeter. Thieves broke into a 2003 GMC pickup and completed a considerable amount of dam- age to the vehicle. Smoke at Exeter OPP EXETER — A furnace system overheated causing a small amount of smoke Nov. 17 around 3 :00 p.m. at the Exeter OPP detachment. The Exeter Fire Department was on scene for about 45 minutes. No injuries were sustained. The damage was unknown as the T- A was going to print.
