Grand Bend CHC hires interim executive director
GRAND BEND — An interim executive director has
been appointed to head up the administrative opera-
tions of Grand Bend Area Community Health
Centre, according to an announcement last
week by board chairperson David Bannister.
Dr. Glenn Bartlett will be the interim ED,
taking charge while the centre's board
undertakes a search for a permanent
replacement over the next few months,
according to Bannister.
"We have had our share of upheaval at the
centre over the past several months,"
acknowledged Bannister, "and this move will
allow us to step back, review the contents of
a recent mediation report undertaken with staff, and
make the appropriate moves to improve the work envi-
ronment for all staff. Dr. Bartlett is a surgeon as well as
a Certified Health Care Executive, and is very familiar
with the challenges faced by boards and management
of health care organizations in difficult
times."
Bannister added, "We look forward to
working with Glenn to solve some of our
operational issues, and to put in place a
new strategic plan that will tie in with
that of our new LHIN funding agency,
and through consultation with staff and
residents, meet the needs of the com-
munities we serve."
Bartlett is a graduate of the University
of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine and has
been a chief operating officer, chief executive officer
and vice-president medical of a large health services
organization. He is semi -retired and lives in the Exeter

VARNA — Bluewater council held its last meeting
Monday night, before the introduction of the incoming
council Dec. 4 which will see several new faces when it
is sworn in Dec. 4.
Huron County planner Craig
Metzger presented a draft bylaw that
will cover medium and high density
zoning in Bayfield as well as a bylaw
for wind turbines in Bluewater.
The zoning bylaw will be discussed
at a public meeting Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
in Varna and is based on a workshop
held Sept.16. The purpose of the pro-
posed zoning bylaw amendment is to
introduce zoning provisions for resi-
dential dwellings contain three or
more units to the zoning bylaw in
Bayfield.
A public meeting to discuss the pro-
posed regulations covering wind
energy facilities in Bluewater will be
held Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in Varna with
those attending able to make written
or verbal statements.
The regulations are intended to
permit small scale wind energy facili-
ties under 50 kilowatts in size while
prohibiting all commercial activities
in the areas covered in the zoning
bylaws.
In other business, chief building
official Brad Dietrich requested
direction from council on how to pro-
ceed with a building code order to
comply for a property in Zurich.
Dietrich said a written complaint
was received about water coming
from a property at the corner of
Victoria and Rosalie Streets and
being deposited onto the lot at 27
Goshen St. N.
Dietrich said after a written com-
plaint was received about the prob-
lem, building inspector Randy Lovie
has made several attempts to contact
the owner of the property without
success. He added that a reversal of
an existing eavestrough will divert
water from the east lot line and stop
the problem.
Council passed a motion authoriz-
ing the work to be done by the
municipality on behalf of the owner.
