Lucan X-mas Craft Show
Community Centre crafts — The Lucan Memorial Community
Centre hosted its annual three-day Christmas Craft Show last weekend.
Organizer Kim Hatton says the craft show, an event which has taken
place for over 25 years, is popular, usually drawing about 3,000 people
over the course of the weekend. Local vendors as well as vendors from
London, Kitchener and other towns and cities also participate.Above,

EXETER — Comrade Eric Heywood spoke
to the ladies of the United Church Women
(UCW) on Mon., Nov 6 at the Exeter United
Church. Eric has a talent for remembering
all the details about the past war years and
the good and sad times of the many soldiers
from Canada and this area that battled for
our freedom. Eric introduced Comrade
Glenn Robinson who is the only veteran in
our Legion who has been around the world
as a sailor visiting many ports in his military
career.
Eric then introduced Comrade Rick Smith
and Comrade Bart DeVries and talked about
their many achievements within the legion.
Finally he introduced Comrade Vera
Armstrong, a veteran who accomplished
many acts of bravery in the service. She
also, has held many positions of administra-
tion in the Legion and other charities, and
her efforts are greatly appreciated.
Eric reminisced about his boyhood days in
the local area. Eric talked about the
Cenotaphs in the area that include names of
the soldiers of Usborne, Stephen Townships
and Exeter. He then proceeded to tell about
many of the boys who gave us the ultimate
sacrifice overseas, their education, jobs and
their families. He had pictures of all the
ones he was talking about and pictures of
the graveyards where they are laid to rest.
The ladies appreciated his knowledge of the
soldiers and the fact that many of their last
names are still found in the area.
Eric has written several books on the local
and far-off areas of the military. To obtain
one, give Eric a call at 519-235-1254.

Lucan Christmas Home Tour
LUCAN — The third annual Lucan
Country Christmas Home Tour is
Sunday.
The tour, hosted by the Lucan
Area Heritage will showcase seven
different homes.
A pioneer tea and dessert will also
be part of the day.
Each home is decorated by profes-
sionals and homeowners, says
Lucan Area Heritage secretary
Sheila Hodgins
Tickets for the tour are $20 each,
supporting the construction of a
new museum in Lucan.
They are available at most shops
in Lucan, says Hodgins, including
Clarke's Food Mart, Renew Day Spa
and Pine Valley.
They can also be bought at Village
Vines in Exeter or the Country Cafe
in Ilderton or by calling Hodgins at
227-1812.
The tour is between 11 a.m. and 5
p.m.
Maps of the homes participating in
the tour are on the ticket. If wanting
to buy a ticket on Sunday, Hodgins
suggests going to Clarke's since it
opens early.
And one added perk for buying a
ticket — "Show your home tour
ticket for discounts in our unique
shops and restaurants," says
Hodgins.
