Fighting MD — The Exeter fire department and
Scotiabank have partnered up to donate over $10,000
to Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Exeter firefighters
raised $5,017 during their annual 'boot drive' on
Thanksgiving weekend. Scotiabank kicked in $5,000
and also had a boot inside the bank for customers to

Granton
remembers

GRANTON - The annual beef sup-
per sponsored by Granton -Wesley
United Church was held on Sun.,
Nov. 5 at the Kirkton-Woodham
Community Centre with a good
attendance.
At the Granton -Wesley United
Church on Sun., Nov. 5 lay pastor
Paul VoRick led the service. Val
Hodgins lit the Christ candle and
Mary Waters gave the minute for
missions.
The scripture readings were from
Ruth 1 and Mark 12. The ministry
of music by the choir was When
Quiet Peace is Shattered. The theme
of the children's time was
`Remembrance'. The message was
entitled `Sacrifice through Love'.
The Nativity Scene weekend is
planned for Nov. 24 and 25.
At St. Paul's Anglican Church in
Kirkton on Sun., Nov 5 Rev. Dalice
Sim celebrated the Holy Eucharist.
The message was about a job
description of a christian - loving
God and showing love for others.
Rosemary Schaefer read the lessons.
Logan Gerald Paul David, son of
Ryan and Bonnie David of Kirkton
was welcomed into the household of
God through the sacrament of bap-
tism.
A Remembrance Service will be
held at St. Paul's, Kirkton next Sim.,
Nov. 12 at 9:15 a.m.

Granton -Wesley UCW Unit one met
at the church on Thurs., Nov. 2 for
pot luck lunch at noon. Unit 5 mem-
bers were in attendance also.
President Carolyn Walden opened
the meeting which followed with
'Lest we forget' from "Follow Me"
booklet.
The roll call was answered with
something on Remembrance. Ina
Harlton presented the program and
was thanked by Becky Kindree.
The business discussion was about
the Nativity Scenes display 'Away in
a Manger' on Nov. 24 and 25.
General meeting and Beef on a Bun
supper on Dec. 12 at the church.
Unit 5 are door greeters for Nov. and
the next meeting will be Dec. 7 when
they will be doing treat baskets. Roll
call will be about Christmas.
POLICE BRIEF
LUCAN — On Nov. 4 an officer
located a male with a half empty
bottle of Lakeport beer on the Main
Street in Lucan. After some conver-
sation a 26 -year-old Lucan man was
placed under arrest for public intox-
ication. He was charged with being
intoxicated in a public place and
having open liquor. The male was
later released.
