Hawks make coaching change
By Pat Bolen
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
EXETER — The Exeter
Hawks had another tough
weekend with a pair of losses
but are hoping their season
will start to turn around after
making a head coaching
change.
The Hawks have announced
that coach Art Larivee has
resigned due to business com-
mitments and is being
replaced by assistant coach
Deryk Howard.
The Hawks were facing
Mitchell Nov. 3 at the Rec
Centre and were down early in
the first period on the way to
an 8-2 loss before an 8-4 loss
in Mt. Brydges Nov. 4.
Howard said he plans to
make the Hawks into a three -
line team.
"Not due to anything else,
but we are always on special
teams...and it's hard to slot in
a fourth line. They're never
going to be happy, that fourth
line because there's not as
much ice for them.
"Everybody in your lineup
nearly has to be able to play a
part in special teams, so that's
what we're doing."
Howard added he intends to
retain the same game plan
worked out at the start of the
year. "We're working off the
same forecheck and the same
penalty killing."
"We've got 28 or 29 games
left, to get ourselves ready for
playoffs and that's the way
we're looking at it."

player Kurtis Bailey Nov. 3 at the South Huron Rec Centre. Exeter lost a pair of games on the
week with an 8-2 defeat to Mitchell before an 8-4 defeat in Mt. Brydges. Nov. 4.The team has

Although Howard said he
hasn't ruled out getting a new
goaltender, it isn't something
he is looking at now.
"I don't think the team
played well enough in front of
them to give them a fair test of
their abilities. Eric has been
able to make a lot of first saves
for us, same as Steve. Right
now, that is all I can ask of
them.
In Mt. Brydges Saturday
night, Howard said despite
being down 1-0 after the first
period, the Hawks played a
great period but played one of
their worst periods in the sec-
ond.
"I called my team out and
asked for no excuses...they
came out and won the third
period. We're going to move
on to practice and into
Wednesday's game like we
won that third period and we
just have to start putting three
of those together."
The Hawks will have two
games to get back on the win-
ning track this week starting
tonight (Wednesday) when
they visit West Lorne at 8:15
p.m. before visiting Lambeth
Friday night at 8:15 p.m.
