12 TIMES—ADVOCATE Wednesday, November 1, 2006 Lots of events planned in Granton By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON - The traditional annual turkey supper sponsored by Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Lucan was held at the Community Centre on Wed., Oct. 25. It was well attended and the change of location offered ample parking and continued seatings. The annual turkey supper at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church in Exeter on Tues., Oct. 24 was also quite successful. It is always nice to meet so many friendly people. At the Granton -Wesley United Church on Sun., Oct. 29 Rachael Hayden lit the Christ candle. Lay Pastor Paul Vollick led the service and the message was entitled "That's not the way I planned it." The scripture readings were from Job 42 and Mark 10. The ministry of music by the choir was Draw The Circle Wide. The theme of the children's time was the Celebration of Baptisms. Welcomed into the congrega- cooking with memories BY DEBBY WAGLER African Dinner WE ALWAYS WERE BIG ENTERTAINERS WHEN I WAS GROWING UP. MY DAD WAS A PASTOR AND WE HAD A LOT OF VISITORS RELATED TO CHURCH FUNCTIONS, WE HAD FAMILY FAR AWAY THAT STAYED FOR A TIME WHEN THEY CAME, AND WE ALL ENJOYED FRIENDS THAT MY MOM REGULARLY FED! THIS PARTICULAR DINNER WAS A FAVORITE TO SERVE UP TO A GANG. SINCE RANDY AND I HAVE MARRIED I MAKE THIS VERSION AND ALSO A MILK BASED VERSION. IT SOUNDS WEIRD BUT TASTES AMAZING! SO GO AHEAD AND MAKE IT! I -1 /2 Ib lean ground beef 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/2 tsp pepper and salt 1-2 tsp curry powder 1-28 oz can diced tomatoes Fry the ground beef till browned and then add in and fry till limp the onion. Add in the seasonings and tomatoes and heat through. Serve over hot rice and with bowls of the following raw condiments: bananas chopped, apples chopped, pineap- ple chunks, oranges chopped, carrots shredded, celery chopped fine, green pepper chopped, green onion chopped fine. Peanuts go great with this as does coconut sprinkled over the top too. It makes for a great guest meal as every one brings a prepared condiment. You can make the curry in a slow cooker and serve it up buffet style. Fun Food!! October Exeter court EXETER — Before Justice R. G. Hunter in Exeter Court Oct. 26, Robert L.
