Council could bring condos to Lucan
LUCAN BIDDULPH — A public meeting held
recently at Lucan Biddulph council focused on the
possibility of condo -style townhouses coming to
town.
The meeting, which packed the township office
with residents living near the Stanley and Walnut
area as well as others from the Lucan area, did
not reach any decisions. Questions and concerns
were raised by the public.
President Steve Allen of development company
Nelson Wolfe answered questions regarding
stormwater management, among others.
The condos are one -floor and 1,200 to 1,400
square foot units plus a garage. They are valued
around $200,000.Twenty-nine condos would be
built.
Allen made an application to change the current
Future Residential (FR) application to an R3
application.
Lucan Biddulph planner Ted Halwa says if the
application is changed he would like it to be a
restricted application.
Lucan Biddulph council recommended Allen
have a pre -consulting meeting with Middlesex
County. Further discussion will be brought to a
future meeting.

Yehudi Menuhin, the famous violinist once said
that expectant mothers should sing to their
unborn child during pregnancy if they want the
child to grow up contented and well balanced. If
singing isn't your forte, try some soothing Mozart
orchestra music as an alternative.
If you have trouble swallowing tablets or capsules, take them with
some carbonated water. It seems to move the medications down
more easily than plain water. Also taking meds with yogurt can also
be helpful especially for the elderly.
There are some medications that cause sweating as a side effect.
Although it's not life threatening, it can be quite aggravating.
Included in this list are antidepressants and opiates (those narcotic -
based medicines that are used for severe pain). Check with your
doctor and pharmacist if you are concerned.
There have been more confirmed cases of measles in England and
Wales so far this year than in any year in the past decade. The
largest outbreaks of the disease are in the areas where the use of
the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine is lower.
Mediations are like apples... they won't keep forever. Clean out
your medicine cabinet today and get rid of all those rotten apples.
You can bring these old medications to your pharmacy for safe
disposal.

The

BotLIe
Dilem
The great squeezable plastic
containers that are being used for
ketchup, among other products, are being
packaged in containers typically made from
#1 PET or #5 PP plastic. However, they often
need to protect the contents from UV rays
which means a special coating or additive
is added to the bottle making it a #7 Other.
Without the UV barrier, regular light would
quickly turn the ketchup brown and while
some companies have experimented with
green and purple ketchup, brown is not a
colour consumers want their ketchup to be.
So while the bottle might say #1 PET or
#5 PP, it is really a multi layered product
that should be labeled as #7 Other.
