At least that's the story according to documentary filmmaker and producer Craig Thompson, a Stratford native and recently -returned resident who now hopes to start a new film festival in the Shakespearean city next autumn Thompson and associate Charlene Gordon attended meetings of both the Huron -Perth Catholic and Avon Maitland school boards earlier this week, promoting their vision for a Stratford -based, student -friendly docu- mentary film festival, and requesting assistance in the form of letters of support. "In exchange, the board will be recognized as a sup- porting partner, and your name will be out there for people to see during the festival," Thompson told Huron - Perth trustees during their regular meeting, Monday. Thompson grew up in Stratford, and credited his involvement in small-time media while still a high school student for pointing his career in a direction which eventually took him to national prominence. He pro- duced documentaries for the CBC and Global television, and became one of the driving forces behind the inter- nationally -acclaimed Banff Television Festival. In recent years, he returned to Stratford, producing the "Manic Organic" cable television show for two years before returning to the production of documentaries. From the school boards, Thompson and Gordon requested letters of support to be included with funding applications. The scripture readings were from Mark 10 and Hebrews 5. The ministry of music by the choir was 'Go make a Difference". The chil- dren's time took the form of Mission Service play. The first euchre night of the season was held at the church on Friday night, October 20.
