Exeter couple wins $100,000 in ENCORE draw
EXETER — An Exeter couple is in
shock after recently winning $100,000
in ENCORE.
Alice Broom, who has played the lot-
tery for years, finally won the second
place prize from the Sept. 30 draw and
after telling her husband the great news
he initially thought it was a joke.
"It didn't seem real until we stepped
inside the Ontario Lottery and Gaming
Corporation Prize Centre (OLG). I
thought I was having a dream,"
Herbert Broom told staff at the OLG
Prize Centre in Toronto when they
picked up their $100,000 cheque.
"I feel as though a weight has been
lifted off our shoulders," Herbert con-
cluded.
Herbert, 50, is a self-employed brick-
layer and Alice, 46, is an RPN.
They have two children and with this
windfall, they are planning to pay off
debts.
The winning ENCORE was bought at
SK Convenience on Main Street in
Exeter.
