Zurich Lutheran Church dinner coming up Nov 18
By Carmel Sweeney
ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - The event of the
year! I'm sure all those who
were at the Memories Historic
Fashion Show at the Zurich
Complex on Oct. 14 will agree it
was just wonderful and certain-
ly another highlight of the
150th Sesquicentennial cele-
bration taking place this year.
Wow! What a beautiful col-
lection of original period cloth-
ing from the 1881's to 1980
owned by Marion Kernighan of
Komoka, Ontario that were
gracefully modeled by children,
women and men, both young
and old from town and various
places. They did a great job
and looked so nice in their out-
fits.
The singing of songs from all
the different era's were great
and added a lot to the program.
Even Elvis was there.
Commentator, Gary Flaxbard
of Kitchener along with
Historian, our own Pauline
Miller were both excellent and
also added a special touch to
the event as well as the lovely
music played by Pearl -Ann
Martin and Cathy Shantz of
Zurich.
Heather Klopp is to be com-
mended on another job well
done organizing this unforget-
table day of memories along
with all her many helpers and
table hostesses, decorations
committee, as the hall just
looked lovely. For those wanti-
ng to order a video tape of the
Fashion Show let Heather
Klopp know as soon as possible
by e-mail.

Sympathy extended
Our community was saddened
to hear of the sudden death of
Trooper Mark Wilson who was
killed in action on Oct. 7,
Thanksgiving weekend, in
Afghanistan. Our sincere sym-
pathy goes out to his parents in
London, Carl and Carelyn
Wilson (nee Gelinas, daughter
of Claude) and to the many
Gelinas relatives in our area.
George and Marg Suplat
recently enjoyed going on a
three-week vacation to
Budapest and visiting many
other places while there.
A Buck and Doe was held for
Cathy Regier and Derek
MacDonald on Oct. 13 in
Seaforth at the Agriplex
Building. Cathy is the daughter
of Mary and Karl Regier Senior
of Zurich. The couple are being
married hi November.
I am sure by now all those
who live in the Zurich area
have seen the tall turbine that
is on the Bronson Line, (proper-
ty of Ralph Geiger) as it can be
viewed from miles around. It
doesn't look like it is actually
running yet, but looks nice any-
way.
Congratulations to Paul and
Angela Watson and Gordie and
Cecilia Smith as both couples
recently celebrated their "45th"
Wedding Anniversaries.
Happy 15th Birthday wishes
to Amanda Masse.
