Pastor Elly Van Bergen gave the message "Walking A Mile In My Shoes" and the learning time was "At the End of the Trail." Birthday Wishes were extended to Gerald Hayter, Gordon Hill and Bill Taylor. Camp Menesetung Annual Appreciation Day was on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. Sun., Oct. 22 Bill Andrews will be leading in worship at Goshen and Pastor Van Bergen will be at Belgrave United Church. Goshen will be having their Fall Supper on Oct. 25 with two sittings. Anniversary will be cele- brated on Oct. 29 in Varna church. The Varna Crokinole Club will meet Oct. 24 at the Varna United Church at 8 p.m. Anyone interested call Joan Beierling at 519-233- 7443 or come out and join in the fun on that night. Please bring crokinole boards and lunch will be provided. Five Alive presents Father Mark Curtis live in concert. Tickets are $12 at the door so get yours early and don't miss out on this fun filled evening. The Stan Lee Club met at the complex on Wed., Oct. 4 with 14 members present. President Charles Reid con- ducted the meeting and trea- surer Bill Taylor gave the financial report. The Fall Rally will be in Grand Bend on Thurs., Oct. 19. Those going from the Stan Lee Club are asked to meet at Margaret Hayters about 9:30 am. The noon lunch is $7 per person to be paid in advance to Bill Taylor. The Club meet again Wed., Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. Take note of change of date. The Christmas meeting will be on Wed., Dec 6. Thanksgiving Sunday was celebrated in Varna Church with the Sacrament of VARNA Solo Scores Baptism celebrated. Jack Markus Finlayson (son of Mary Ellen and Mark Finlayson) was baptized with Pastor Elly Van Bergen per- forming the ceremony. Grandparents Mac and Janet Webster and Carol and Murray Finlayson also took part in the ceremony. The choir's gift of music was Children of the Heavenly Father and Pastor Elly's learning time was on "Babies You Gotta Love `Em." The Congregation were favoured with a mother - daughter quartet. Mona Stephenson, Debbie Rathwell, Joyce Dowson and Brenda Consitt sang Happy the Home Where God Is. Pastor Elly's message was on "Gleaning." Anniversary wishes Anniversary Wishes were extended to Barb and Tom Consitt celebrating NEWS their 46th and Arnold and Nora Keys cele- brating 57 years. Happy birthday wishes to Bill Dowson. Congrats to Cameron Laurie Valedictorian at Commencement Friday night at Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton. Cameron also was an Ontario Scholar. Jennifer Keys received the Bayfield Optimist Award as well as the Ontario Scholar. Alieca Dowson sang 0 Canada for opening ceremony and also is an Ontario Scholar. Congratulations to these youth and the best of luck in your future endeavors. Varna UCW Varna UCW met Thurs., Oct. 5 with Debbie Rathwell open- ing with a welcome and a reading "We Are Thankful for Angels." Elly Van Bergen shared her beautiful table arrangement she had made for her daughter Kate's wed- ding held on Sept. 23. Shirley Hill and Joan Beierling took over with the devotion on Thanksgiving and the Seasons of Life. Shirley introduced Solo scores for the week of Oct. 11 - High score Ken Keller; 2nd high score Donna Corrett; High solo Shorty Caldwell; 2nd high solo Betty Coates; Mystery score Liz Bell. Exeter Bridge Above average scores for Oct. 11 - Carole and Dennis Hockey .684, Pam and Jim Rabb .625, Art Pfaff and Robert Drummond .625 guest speakers Katie Sparling and Kim Conistt. Katie and Kim were Princess of the Furrow Competitors at the Huron County Ploughing Match. They explained what they had to do to compete and read their speeches. Katie's was all about her 4-H clubs and Kim spoke on "Living on a Farm." Thank you to these two girls for sharing their speeches with us and making us more aware of what the youth in the Varna Community are doing. Debbie read a thank you from Vacation Bible School, Jeff and Brenda Chuter and Bonnie and David Roy. A thank you to Shirley Hill, Debbie Rathwell and Margaret Hayter for decorat- ing the church.
