Similar resolutions, all calling for an increase in check -off fees, were sub- mitted from regions across Ontario. The resolutions were passed, reaffirming simi- lar resolutions passed at the March Annual Business Meeting. Other resolutions relat- ing to the farm income crisis and the implemen- tation of a fully funded Risk Management Program (RMP) also received unanimous sup- port. An update on the multi - pronged strategy taken by the Canadian Corn Producers to defend against the harm caused by dumped and unfairly subsidized U.S. corn and the pending judicial review of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal's no -injury find- ing was well received and continues to be strongly supported by the mem- bership The Ontario Corn Producers Association, founded in 1983 is a non- profit association repre- senting 21,000 Ontario corn producers. Thanksgiving celebrates agriculture week GUELPH — Thanksgiving is a good time to celebrate Agriculture Week and according to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Leona Dombrowsky it is also an excellent opportunity to buy food grown by local farmers. "Thanksgiving is the perfect time to be grateful for the hard work of farmers, who put high-quality food on our table every day," said Dombrowsky. "I encourage every Ontarian to buy locally produced food and to be sure to thank a farmer," says Dombrowsky. Farmers and food processors throughout Ontario con- tribute to an industry that generates $30 billion a year for the economy, employs 650,000 people and ships more than $8.5 billion in exports every year. Ontario's food industry includes such sectors as cereal and flour, meat and poultry, beverages, fruit and veg- etables, dairy, bakery and other food products. The week leading up to Thanksgiving is celebrated as Ontario Agriculture Week. This year it's from Oct. 2 to Oct. 8. Borrowing solutions that fit your farm business needs.
