Brydges Bulldogs Sept. 29 but despite the loss, Exeter coach Art Larivee said the Hawks played well enough to win but couldn't finish on their chances. "We made three or four cru- cial errors. They capitalized on all the errors and we did not capitalize on the errors they made. we had tons of chances, we just couldn't finish." Larivee said the Hawks have also had several injuries to start the season and the play- ers are still learning what con- tact is allowed in the league. "There were several hits made on the weekend that were clean hits...and they were called penalties. We're not blaming the refereeing for our loss at all. It's just guys are wondering whether they should hit a guy or not," said Larivee Larivee said he was happy with the enthusiasm of the team against the Bulldogs and the Hawks need to work as a cohesive unit. "We outshot them, we outhit them...their goaltender played absolutely spectacularly." The Hawks got both of their goals with special teams as Jordan Stiles scored short- handed and Jake Jeffrey Shorthanded goal — Exeter Hawk Jordan Stiles scores Sept. 29 at the Rec Centre against the Mt. Larivee said the officiating will be a factor for the entire season, "It's not any more of a mess for us than it is for any other team...that's just the way it is this year." Larivee added that from night to night, "they don't know what is and what isn't a penalty. I don't even think the referees and linesmen know what is a penalty and what isn't." The Hawks have one game this weekend with Lambeth visiting Friday night at 8:30 p.m. which will be Hensall Public School night at the Rec Centre. Exeter plays three games in four nights next week, starting with a visit to Lucan Oct. 11 and a game in Thamesford Oct. 13 at 8:30 p.m. Exeter will be in Central Elgin Oct. 14 at 7:45 p.m before a Sunday afternoon game Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. with West Lorne in town.
