Dorothy Ratz, in an informative light-hearted manner told those ladies present the story of "Honey." She explained the type of dances the bees do in communicating with each other. Dorothy also told of the work done by bees. A draw for several products containing honey was held. Beekeeping is the oldest form of agriculture, and Canadian beekeep- ers have one of the highest honey yields per hive in the world. All provinces produce honey and Alberta leads in production. A hard-working bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during a collection trip yet produces only about 1/12th of a tea- spoon of honey in her short lifetime. President Cass Lovie conducted the business meeting. The ladies will participate in the Thanksgiving Farmers' Market on October 7. Coffee and muffins will be sold and the profit donated to the Alzheimer Society. A quilt made by the ladies will be donated to the Breast Cancer Quilt Show 2007 in Stratford.
