Help Protect your Smile in the 2I st Century:
Acid is no longer a health concern that is just linked to
your stomach. Ninety per cent of Canadian dental pro-
fessionals report seeing a condition known as acid wear
in their practices. The acids in many popular foods and
drinks — including fruits, fruit juices, some soft drinks
(even diet drinks) and wine can damage your teeth by
softening the enamel surface which then becomes more
vulnerable to the effects of brushing. This process is
called acid wear, and may change in the brightness or
appearance of teeth as the enamel erodes.
