THAMES ROAD - A joint
service of Thames
Road/Elimville,Kirkton
/Woodham, Centralia/Zion
West Churches met at the
Kirkton Community
Centre on Sunday morn-
ing.
Bill and Agnes Denham
showed a video of a differ-
ent service. Mike Brine
was the pianist for the ser-
vice.
The service commenced
with the singing of "Come
In, Come In and Sit
Down".
Dave Williams gave
greetings and words of
welcome. He was in
charge of the candle light-
ing service and congrega-
tional response. Dave gave
the Prayer of Approach. A
singing group "The
Summit" from Listowel,
namely Sharon Carter,
Jessica Morgan, Gary Erb
sang "One Day at the
Time", "Up to the Summit"
and "We will Worship the
Lord:.
Dave Williams read
Ephesians 4:3-5 and gave
a meditation. Rev.
Michelle Down had the
children come forward
and quoted Matthew
12:49 and talked about
uniting with families and
friends. Everyone sang
songs.
The hymn "In Christ
There Is No East or West"
was sung while the offer-
ing was being received.
The offering hymn "In
Gratitude and Humble
Trust" was sung.
The offering blessing
was given by Dave
Williams and the prayers
of the people. The Summit
group sang "Leaning on
the Everlasting Arms"
"Get All Excited", "0 Lord
Your Beauty". They were
marvellous singers.
Rev. Judith Ritchie read
Corinthians 13 from verse
8 on and gave a medita-
tion. The announcements
were read by Dave
Williams for Woodham
and Kirkton. Rev. Michelle
Down read for Centralia
and Zion West and Rev.
Judith Ritchie for Thames
Road Elimville. The dos-
ing hymn "May the God of
Hop Go With Us Every
Day" was sung and Rev.
Judith Ritchie pronounced
the benediction.
Dave Williams gave
words of thanks before the
delicious lunch was par-
taken of which brought a
very inspiring service and
lunch to a close.

birthday was the 27th of
August and Rhoda's was
the 28th of August. Their
wedding anniversaries are
the 11th of September.

VARNA - Thurs., Aug.
31, fourteen ladies got
together for an August
celebration and made
some peach jam and chili
sauce. The afternoon
ended with tea and warm
peach cobbler made by
Terri Louch at the Corner
Store in Varna. The jam
and chili sauce have been
sold with the proceeds
POLICE BRIEF
Speeding charge
SOUTH HURON — On
Sept. 1 at 1 a.m., mem-
bers of the Huron OPP
were conducting radar
enforcement.
The officers were
located on Crediton Road
when they observed a
yellow Ford pickup trav-
eling at 118 km/h in a
posted 90 km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped
and police determined
the driver had been
drinking alcohol.
The driver failed a
lawful roadside demand.
The driver was arrested
and returned to the
Huron detachment were
he provided two breath
samples. The samples
were analyzed with two
results greater then the
legal limit of 80 mg of
alcohol.
A 33 -year-old South
Huron male will attend
Exeter Provincial court
Oct. 26, facing one count
of driving a motor vehi-
cle with more then 80
mg of alcohol. The driver
also received a 90 ADLS
driving suspension.

went on a bus trip to the
Grand River Cruise on
Thursday. They had a
roast been dinner on the
boat "The Princess". They
saw and heard three won-
derful violin players and a
gentleman on the piano.
The bus trip and cruise
was planned by Harry
Hardy of Lucan. It was a
wonderful day.
