30th Anniversary celebrations
The Exeter Claybird. Gun Club
held its annual Russ Beaver
Memorial Shoot in conjunction
with the clubs 30th Anniversary
on July 22/23.
The club was founded in the
winter of 1976 and began shoot-
ing skeet on the Stanlake farm
just north of the Exeter Cemetery.
In the spring of 1977 the club
was moved to its present 15 acre
site 1/2 mile north of 83 highway
on Ausable Line.
The property had been used as
pasture and was devoid of trees,
but with the help of Ausable
Conservation, 500 trees were
planted and now are 30 feet high.
A new club house was built in
1987. Trap, Skeet, Handgun and
Rifle are shot at the club and
members compete here and at
other clubs. Membership has
always been open to the public
and have 50 members.
A wildlife pond was added in
2001 and now boasts excellent
catch and release fishing of Bass,
Crappie, Pike and Carp. Shooters
from as far away as Owen Sound,
Kitchener and Windsor attend
major shoots here and overnight
camping is available on site.
We wish to thank everyone who
has helped make us a successful
organization within this commu-
nity. Membership information can
be accessed at
www. claybird. on. ca.
Results from 30th Anniversary
Shoot were based on 100 Trap
and 50 Skeet Targets combined.
