(photo/Nina Van Lieshout) POLICE BRIEFS Counterfeit bill in Exeter EXETER — On Aug. 11 Huron OPP attended a business in Exeter. The business had received a counterfeit $5 Canadian bill from an unknown patron. The counterfeit Canadian currency serial number is HNS1020443. Business owners and those handling paper curren- cy, be aware of what bills you are accepting. Be sure that you inspect them carefully to ensure that all security features are present. For further information on what to look for, contact the Bank of Canada at www.bankofcanada.ca ATV stolen BLUEWATER — Sometime between July 24 and July 28 someone stole a grey 2002 Polaris Sportsman ATV. Thieves entered a shed located on Parr Line in Bluewater. The licence plate number is 77BX5 and the VIN number is 4XACH68A42A556600. Rekindling old friendships HENSALL — Residents had a great day Sunday when sev- eral attended the fish fry supper at Hensall's Community Centre. the menu of deep fried fish, baked beans and potatoes, salad and roll was delicious and residents also enjoyed the wheelchair rides over to the arena on such a beautiful sunny day. In the afternoon another group of resi- dents had traveled to view horse races at the Clinton Race Track. Everyone had a great time picking their favourites and watch- ing the action. Tuesday morning breakfast group met over a meal prepared while they watched. Thank you to volun- teer Betty Simmons for assisting. The Rev. Lil Wilton led worship Tuesday afternoon with Belva Fuss as vol- unteer organist and in the evening everyone at Queensway had their share of fresh outside air when we held our evacuation fire drill with Marguerite McLeod and Esther Hillman were selling Gladioli Aug. 11 in Exeter as part of the Epilepsy Huron - Perth -Bruce Glad Days campaign to heighten recognition and understanding of epilepsy, raising $1661.79. (photo/Pat Bolen) POLICE BRIEF Huron OPP and MNR patrol Hay Swamp area SOUTH HURON — Due to the number of complaints and the growing popularity of ATV enthusi- asts, the Huron OPP and Ministry of Natural Resources joined forces in completing ATV patrols in the Hay swamp area South Huron over Civic holiday weekend. Several ATV's were stopped with a com- mon violation of having no proof of insurance or ownership for the vehicle and as a result these vehi- cles were impounded until proof of ownership for the vehicle was determined. Staff, vol- unteers, fireman and several residents' fam- ilies took part in the drill which saw resi- dents evacuated to the Fire Hall parking lot. Volunteer Francis Kinsman organized the euchre enthusiasts Wednesday afternoon while other residents enjoyed working on word finds and quizzes. Joan Bradley, food service supervisor presided at the Residents Food Committee meeting Thursday morning addressing sugges- tions, issues and even hearing some acco- lades. Friday after- noon several residents helped work on gift tags for our craft sale coming up in November. Retirement residents also had a busy week with some attending the Clinton Dining for Seniors group where they had an opportuni- ty to rekindle old friendships over a meal of ham and scal- loped potatoes. Retirement residents have also been doing some brainstorming for our upcoming Open Doors, Sun., Oct. 1. Our theme will be "A Country Fall Fair" with this being an opportunity for the community to see what services Queensway Retirement and Nursing Home pro- vide.
