GreenField vice-president for corpo- rate affairs Bliss Baker announced the news at Bluewater council's Aug. 8 meeting. According to Baker, there are few conditions on the funding that clerk -administrator Janisse Zimmerman said details have not been finalized on yet. "It's the beginning of a long-term relationship with the Hensall District Co-op," said Baker who added the com- pany engineers would like to meet with B.M. Ross engi- neers as soon as possible to look at the specifications of the pipeline project. He added GreenField would like to negotiate an indus- trial water rate of around 28 cents per cubic metre and the company needs to know the timeline for construc- tion of the pipeline. In response, Coun. Jim Fergusson, who sits on the board of the Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System (LHPWSS) said regional manager Andrew Henry says Request for Proposals (RFP) will be out in two weeks with responses back by the end of September Fergusson added firm figures will be known then with construction starting in the spring. Baker said January 2008 "will be plenty of time" and Coun. Rod Parker added the residents of the town are happy and excited with the pipeline going ahead. Baker said Greenfield, when deciding what amount to put into the pipeline, "weighed the financial costs against intangibles such as a community that wants us. The non-financial won for us." Asked why GreenField changed its name from Commercial Alcohols Inc. Baker said the company start- ed as an industrial alcohol company but fuel alcohol is now more important. "We're rebranding," said Baker. Coun. Marg Deichert asked if specifications for run- ning a line into Zurich from the main line can be includ- ed in the RFP. Utilities manager Bill Stauttner said it is already in the works. 190 Thames Rd.
