HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Times Advocate, 2006-08-09, Page 13soccer report U16 Boys U18 Girls Wednesday, August 9, 2006 Exeter Times—Advocate Sports u11 U11 Boys #1 Exeter 4 versus North Middlesex #2 1 Goals: Quinton Bedard,Taylor Bilcke, Jason Metzger (2) Goalkeepers: Blake Gower and Ryan Smillie Future games: Aug. 10 at 7 a.m. U13 Boys #1 July 25 Exeter 3 versus Delko #4 2 Goals: Jeff Stire (2), Jordan Phouttharath Goalkeepers: Taylor Lightfoot and Corey Davidson Coaches comments: The squad played a solid defensive game and made the most of their scoring chances. Outstanding effort by defensive backs; Jake Partridge, Craig Branderhorst, Jordan Pache and Matthew Hagarty. A well deserved win by a team which continues to improve, demonstrating skills and poise to the delight of spectators and coaches alike. This week there was no question that Jeff Stire and Taylor Lightfoot should be singled out for their efforts which contributed greatly to the successful outcome for South Huron. U13 Boys LDYSL Exeter 5 versus East Elgin Elgin 3 Coaches comments: Best team effort of the season so far in beating the top team in the league. Great passing and support. Strong & steady goalkeeping, defense that did not give up, support from midfield for both defense and forwards and strong finishing from the forwards to give a great team effort. U7 Green 2 versus Orange 0 Goal: Zoe Goalies: Ron and Travis Coaches comments: Awesome goal tending by both goalies and brilliant defending by Jordan, Scott and Larry. The forwards worked really hard with great passing. Well done James, Nicole, Emily and Zoe. Gold 0 versus Purple 1 Tough loss Gold team. You worked very well together and your passing was amazing. Keep up the great work. Orange 0 versus Green 2 Comments: The team played a very good game. Had good scoring chances. We just seemed to run out of steam in the dying minutes of the game. Purple July 27 Purple 1 versus Gold 0 Goal: Brian Hope Coaches comments: Good effort by all. Excellent goal tending by Mitchell & Laura. Good solid game played by Brandon and Jasmine this week. Taylor and Allisa played well as forwards and defense through the whole game. Some good passing through out game. Brian played very well, scoring our lone goal. The Gold team played well against us and came very close to tying game. Kids played whole game without any subs and worked hard on this hot evening. 1116 #1 Lightning July 24 Exeter 7 versus Delko Bridge 0 Coaches comments: Very good game by the whole team. Kept pos- session for most of the game. Both forwards Ryan Smith and Sean Consitt scored two goals. Scott Stire added a goal, along with Cole Hulley and Trevor Bye. Future games: Aug. 31 at Nabisco Fields against Taxandria. U16 Boys #2 July 24 Exeter 7 versus Lambeth 1 Goals: Dustin Mills (3), Brett Oud, Tyson Christie, Jordan Eckel, Alex Synayuk Coaches comments: Excellent game, great passing to help achieve this win. U18 #1 Exeter 6-2 loss Goals: Kristin Ferguson, Shan Cooper Goalie: Taryn Anstett Coaches comments: A shorthanded Exeter squad was overwhelmed by a strong and prepared Lucan team. A good second half effort wasn't enough to overcome a tough fust half. U9 Gold 0 versus Grand Bend #3 6 Comments: Good team effort on a very warm night. Orange July 27 Orange 9 versus Grand Bend 2 Goals: Kean Dwyer (2), Matthew Smillie, Jacob Hrudka (2), Adam Tait (2), Zach Britnell Assists: Sara Dietrich, Harriet Lloyd, Jacob Hrudka, Matthew Smillie, Zach Britnell, Kean Dwyer Goalies: Sara Dietrich, Kasie DaSilva Coaches comments: Fancy footwork and even some spins! Everyone contributed and tried hard... good work. Purple July 27 Purple 2-1 win Goals: Morgan McCann, Evan Hardie Goalies: Jeremy Johnston, Alec Speers Play of the game: A terrific goal scored by Morgan McCann on a first half penalty kick. Coaches comments: Fantastic job in goal by both Alec Speers and Jeremy Johnston. Great hustle throughout the game by Amanda Verbeke, and a very solid effort on team defense, with everyone coming back to help out when there was pressure in our end. Good consistent passing by everyone to move the ball. Terrific job on the throw ins and corner kicks. Good work everyone!! Red July 27 Red 1 versus Purple 2 Goal: Justin Hern Goalies: Jared Denotter and Jackson Soudant Coaches comments: Excellent passing skills shown by all players — well done! Both our goalies, Jared and Jackson made wonderful saves and helped to keep it a close score in a very exciting game. When playing forward positions, Brandan, Danielle, Karra and Justin were quick and showed great determination. Jared and Niki played superbly in mid field with great bursts of speed just when we needed it. Special thanks to our two U7 players who helped us fill out our roster. Both Kyle Hern and Rachel Vanderlaan ran hard and played well. Keep up the good work team! Orange 5-3 win Goals: Kean (4) and Zach Goalies: Sarah and Matthew Coaches comments: Awesome team effort espe- cially with a different coach. Everyone played 100% even with only 1 sub. See you all at the tournament, venue to be con- firmed. Aug 3 Purple 5-3 loss Goals: Lindsay Govers (2), Evan Hardie Goalies: Jeremy Johnston, Stephanie Corbett Play of the game: A fantastic goal by Lindsay Govers off and indirect kick passed effectively by Jordan Butler and Evan Hardie back to Lindsay for the score. Great passing and team- work!!! Coaches comments: Some good passes and scoring opportunities throughout the game. Keep working on putting pressure on the other team in their own end.Navy Blue Aug. 3 Navy Blue 7-2 win Goals: Zach Smith (6), Nicole Devries Goalie: Wesley Dearing Play of the game: Great passing by Georgia Wilder and Kira Westlaken gave Zach the opportunities to score. Great defensive play by Jake Tyler and Angela Regier. Coaches comments: A really good team effort was displayed tonight. Congratulations to Nicole for scoring her first goal ever.
