After a tough start to the game the Exeter team found themselves in a 3-0 hole at halftime. The girls never gave up and early in the second half it was apparent that they weren't going down without a fight. Although they outplayed their opponents in the second half, Exeter simply ran out of time and fell 4-3 to the visitors. A valiant effort!! Kaitlyn Love and Caroline Moore played excel- lent on defence and Julie Moore set up many chances in front of the net! All in all another great game. 11 Tough loss for Fury EXETER — The Exeter Fury travelled to Sarnia July 23 to play the first place Sarnia Fury and despite play- ing a strong game the visitors fell 2-0. Exeter played stride for stride with the tal- ented Sarnia squad with the Fury absorbing the Sarnia attack and form- ing counter attacks whenever possible. At the 25 -minute mark, a long range shot was well struck and met strongly by the Fury keeper, however the rebound went straight to the foot of the attack- er who slid the ball past the outstretched keeper and the goal line. The Fury did not let this bad luck dampen their spirit as they con- tinued to play a strong defensive style of soccer with key tackles being made by Matt Prout and Ryan Carroll in the mid- field. Exeter was struck by another misfortune when a goal mouth scramble resulted in the ball crossing the line seconds before being cleared by a Fury defender. The Fury came out with a good attitude in the second half and once again continued a hard defensive battle. Ryan Ralph, who has shown continuous improvement through- out the season, was moving the ball well amongst his teammates in the backline. "We played a really solid game tonight and everyone was on the same page from striker to sweeper," said Fury coach Andrew Prout. The Fury play their next game at home Sunday night against the Hispanos.
