Donations to local charities have exceeded $50,000 to date. We are a non-profit organization whose objectives are: 1. To run a safe, fun and multicultural festival celebrating the tradition of Dragon Boat Racing. 2. To raise funds to support local charities. This year the London Dragon Boat Festival Committee is proud to support the Children's Health Foundation in support of the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. A pledge program, with all of the proceeds going to the Children's Health Foundation in support of the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario, will be included on our website: www.dragonboatlondon.ca. Help make it a success by pledging your favorite team and support a great cause! Our goal is to raise $5,000. A secure online pledge area is being set up and there are great prizes available for participating teams including free team entry to next year's London festival! POLICE BRIEFS Domestic violence in Exeter EXETER — On June 25 Huron OPP responded to a 911 call to a residence on Anne Street in Exeter. Police arrived and were met by a common law couple. The parties were having a heated argument when it escalated and the female became violent striking her male partner. The female was arrested and released. The 48 - year -old woman will attend Exeter Provincial court Aug. 31, facing one count of assault. Lucan Biddulph PS vandalized LUCAN — Lucan Biddulph p Public School on Saintsbury Line north of Lucan was vandalized over the Canada Day weekend. There were several windows bro- ken at the rear of the school. The Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle was rocking July 21 with a Jamaican -Canadian reg- gae christian rock concert. Performing was the Unity band with from left, Dean Daley, Robert Harris, Denise Conway, Brian Conway, Ron Amerongen, Gary Rutledge, Joshua Visscher and Jason Walters.The Conways also opened the show as the band Cord.The Jamaican members of Unity work at Suntastic and have been putting on a series of shows in the area.
