Kurt Van Osch was a wall in the net and was credited with two shutouts. Dimitris Fragiskatos and Jason and Scotty Stire played phenomenal defense leaving many Stratford players frustrated. The midfield play of Tory Thompson, Alex Synayuk, Brett Oud and Kevin Ha was relentless as they controlled both of the games. The forward combinations of Dylan Fidler, Tim Burtch, Tyson Christie and Jordan Walzak created many chances and kept the pres- sure on the opposition. Up and coming youngsters Liam Price, Stephen Troyer, Stephen Mann and David Mills all filled in and played important roles when called upon. Ultimately this championship was won because the Panthers played as a team and they were deserving of their title. The coaching staff of Scott Richardson, Ryan Soldan and Henry Bonsma are proud of the effort and class that the Panthers showed on and off the field. EXETER — The South Huron Junior boys soccer team claimed the Huron -Perth title on May 25th The team had enjoyed a successful season and the championship was the icing on the cake. The boys had compiled a regular season record of six wins, two loss- es, and one tie. The two losses occurred on a day of poor soccer for the boys but it may have been what they needed to get ready for the playoffs. The team regrouped from these losses and clinched a playoff spot finishing third in the league behind Stratford Central and St. Mike's. Stratford Northwestern finished fourth to round out the playoff ros- ter. In the semifinal game it was the Panthers versus rival St. Mike's. The game was tightly played and South Huron emerged with a 1-0 win. A late goal by Dylan Fidler sealed the deal and South Huron was off to the finals against Stratford Central. The final was a thriller that saw the play go back and forth. Eventually Brett Oud, with some hard work in the box, deposited the ball in the net off a corner kick and gave South Huron a 1-0 lead. The South Huron District High School Junior Boys were the Huron -Perth soccer champions this year.
