Oct. 29 By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH CORRESPONDENT ZURICH - It was just great to see such a big turn out for the doctor's meeting at the Zurich Complex last Thursday. The hall was packed full. The next meeting is set for Thurs., Nov. 3, 7 p.m. at the Blue Water Complex. Once again we are encouraged to attend and find out what is happen- ing. Anyone still wanting to donate some money for the doctor's office can do so at Schilbe's Hardware Store in Zurich. Get well wishes go out to Gerard Ducharme and Linda Regier in Zurich. Also to Porky Masse of London. May we offer our sincere sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Louis Willert who passed away on Oct. 17. Happy birthday wishes to Arlene Seyler on Oct. 18 and to Gwen Feagan on Oct. 22 both of Zurich. Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night Oct. 29. The children will be coming around on Mon., Oct. 31 for their Halloween treats. Be ready with your porch lights on and pumpkins lit. Karl and Mary Regier along with Butch and Helen Regier were among those on a bus trip to Branson Missouri for a week recently and all had a good time. The Scouts will be having their Apple Day this Sat., Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon. Everyone is welcome to attend the ladies auxil- iary meeting at the Blue Water Rest Home on Tues., Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. Please bring along a couple of can good items for our raffle on Nov. 6 at the Blue Water Rest Home. Also remember to bring your membership dues which will be collected that night or give them to Carmel or Hilda at any time. Don't forget to come out and help the Lions Club celebrate their 60th anniversary at the Hay Township Hall in Zurich on Sat., Nov. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. Drop by and say hi. Everyone welcome! Catholic Women's League St. Boniface Catholic Women held their monthly meeting on Oct. 18 beginning with the Living Rosary . Guest speaker was Patti Groot of the Blue Water Rest Home. She spoke on volunteering and showed slides. A donation was given to Philip Denomme for his St. Anne's school trip to do mis- sion work. A donations also to the Scouts for vari- ous projects. Plans are well underway for our Parish Bazaar this Sat., Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Groups are asked to set up their tables and things ready on Friday at 1 p.m. Bring a can good item for the gro- cery hamper. Once again our league will be collecting toys and clothes for the Huron Christmas Bureau in ZUR December. A motion was made to send some money to Campaign Life. Right to Life membership dues will be collected on Nov. 5 and 6 and Nov. 12 and 13 weekend at church. Father Francis is having a memorial Mass on Nov. 2 and ladies are asked to serve coffee after the Mass. Catholic Women's League dues will be collected from Nov. 19 to 20 and Nov. 26 and 27 at $15 a person. You can also give your dues to Janet ICH NEWS Soudant anytime. Don't forget to bring your cats and dogs for their rabies vaccination on Sat., Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the veterinary office in Zurich. The cost is $25 a pet. Enjoy an evening of great music with Juno award winner Steve Bell at the Zurich Mennonite Church on Fri., Nov. 18. Tickets are now on sale for $12.50 in advance. St. Peter's Catholic Women's League of St. Joseph are putting on a Halloween dance in their church hall on Sat., Oct. 29 from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Prizes for the best costumes and lunch with music and Karaoke by Ken Rau of Zurich. St. Anne's Catholic School in Clinton are celebrat- ing their Ten Years Together Anniversary on Nov. 4 and 5 with a dinner, dance, sports events and musical entertainment. The Flu Shot Clinic is at the Zurich Public School on Nov. 18 in the morning and at St. Boniface School at 1 p.m. for all the children plus any adults in the community wanting a flu shot can also get one at that time. Doug Corriveau of Calgary and Peter Corriveau and two children of California spent last week visit- ing with their mother Laurene Corriveau in Zurich. They also visited with their brothers in Goderich and attended the wedding of Angela Corriveau to Jason McLlwain on Sat., Oct. 22 at the Victoria Street United Church. The bride is the daughter of Paul and Susan Corriveau of Goderich. The Senior's Tri County Games meeting was held at the Zurich complex on Oct. 18. Ladies attended from various places. It was well attended. On Fri., Oct. 28, some of the residents of Blue Water Rest Home will be carving pumpkins for Halloween. At 2:30 p.m. a music group will be coming from Goderich to entertain them. On Mon., Oct. 31 the Grand Cove Choir will be entertaining at 2 p.m. and Nathan and Russell at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come out for the pro- grams and visit the residents. Congratulations to Karl Regier, Junior and wife Erin of Zurich on the arrival of their baby girl, Rebecca Marie who was born on Oct. 12, 2005. This being the 21st grandchild for Mary and Karl Regier, Senior of RR 3, Zurich. Arvis Rader of Stratford, recently attended the graduation of her grandson, Nolan Rader in Toronto. He graduated from York University on Oct. 14. He is the son of Doug Rader of Owen Sound. It was a great weekend at the Dashwood Community Centre when 50 women came to do the art of scrapbooking hosted by Lisa Giffin of Strathroy. Croptoberfest is the annual get together for these friends that meet from across North America, including Houston, Texas, Edmonton, Toronto, Kitchener, Peterborough, London, Brussels, Strathroy, Exeter, Zurich, Sarnia, Dashwood and Grand Bend. This year donations were collected for the Food Bank and $177.00 was raised for the Cancer Society. Philip Denomme recently spent a week at Sagamok, First Nations Reserve, west of Espanola. Philip was a member of St. Anne's High School "Hands of God" Missionary Team. They were joined by a group of students from Regina Mundi High School of London. While at Sagamok, the group repainted the church hall, purchased and delivered groceries to needy families, worked as educational assistants in the elementary school and sponsored a movie night for local teens. For fun, the youth group made a trip to Manitoulin Island and toured unique natural sights. Thanks go to family and friends and St. Peter's of St. Joseph and St. Boniface Catholic Women's League for sponsoring Philip.
