Health Centre chair- person David Bannister announced last week Jane Falconer of Mitchell will be the new executive direc- tor, effective Dec. 5. The move follows an extensive search process that started in late July when the centre and former executive director Dan Steinwald "parted ways." Steinwald had been with the centre for five years, after which the centre decided to move in a different direction. Falconer has had a 22 -year career in man- agement, most recently as executive director of the Huron County Child Abuse Prevention Committee. A believer in life-long learning, she has completed a number of professional courses through sever- al Canadian universi- ties. Falconer is accredited with a Canadian Association Executive (CAE) desig- nation, the highest form of association management recogni- tion in Canada. She is well versed in all areas of management includ- ing human resources, financial, part- nership devel- opment, evel- opment, fundraising, reporting and evaluation. Several areas of her experi- ence have been related to health care, inclusive of children through to the elderly. In making the announcement last week, Bannister noted, "We are extremely for- tunate to have found someone of Jane's cali- bre to fill this position. I am confident, as is everyone who partici- pated in the search process, that she will be an excellent addi- tion. Reporting to the board chair, she will head up a highly quali- fied staff and manage- ment team at the cen- tre." In accepting the posi- tion, Falconer noted, "Organizations that 'an Falconer benefit the needs of all sectors of our society are extremely impor- tant and a lifeline for those who rely on the programs and services offered." She added, "It will be an honour to be part of the team you have assembled to cre- ate this at the Health Centre." Bannister thanked the executive director search committee, chaired by Hank Krech, for their hard work and thorough evaluation of over 90 candidates. "The committee pre- sented the board with a short list of five highly qualified candidates early in October. Each of the candidates pre- sented a strong case. In the end, Jane was unanimously consid- ered the best fit for our Health Centre." Bannister added, "We look forward to wel- coming her to the cen- tre in December, and to having the community get to know her." Falconer lives in Mitchell with husband Tom. They have four grown children. Coats for kids program CLINTON — The Canadian Red Cross `Coats for Kids' distribution dates are fast approaching.
