"Amazing Women" fall rally

The October meeting of
the U.C.W. was held on
Tuesday evening in the
church basement with 30
ladies present. The meet-
ing table had the auto-
graphed table cloth on it
covered with
Thansksgiving decora-
tions which made a pretty
setting for the meeting.
Anne Bray
welcomed
everyone and
gave the theme
"Thanksgiving" and the
Call to Worship. Ahna
Ballantyne led in prayer
and gave reflection on the
prayer. The ladies sang
"For the Fruit of All
Creation" with Marjorie
Johns accompanying on
the piano for the hymns.
Judith Parker read the
scripture Psalm 95:1-7 in
place of Kay Hodgert.
Alma Ballantyne played
"Whispering Hope" and
"It Is No Secret" with vari-
ations which was well
done and much enjoyed.
Anne Bray gave a reading
"The Meaning of
Thanksgiving". Judith
Parker gave a poem
"Autumn". Margaret
McCarter gave a reading.
The offering was received
by Alma Ballantyne and
Margaret McCarter with
prayer by Anne Bray.
The ladies sang "We
Come To Praise Our
Maker". A humourous
reading "Things My
Mother Taught Me" by
Anne Bray. Carolyn
Johns
our
presi-
dent gave the Opening
Thought "On
Thanksgiving". The
U.C.W. Purpose was said
in unison. The roll call
was taken by Diane
Jeffery which was
answered by "A Harvest
Memory".
The minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were read
and the correspondence
was dealt with.
The fall rally of the
U.C.W. is to be held on
Mon., Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
at Exeter United Church
with the theme being
"Amazing Women".

Hurondale WI heads to
Stratford to attend project

HURONDALE — On
Wed., Sept. 28 ten mem-
bers of Hurondale W. I.
travelled to attend "The
Quilt", a breast cancer
support project. It is an
annual exhibition and
auction of quilts in its
seventh year. There are
392 quilts on display
from May to November
at various locations
across Canada.
Following the time
spent at "The Quilt", the
group had lunch at Swiss
Chalet. On the way
home, a stop at Cozyne's
Garden Centre was
enjoyed by all. The
group went to Lorraine
Alexander's home for the
meeting which was
chaired by president
Fern Dougall.
The fall rally on Mon.,
Oct. 3 in Belgrave and
the area convention on
Oct. 4 in Mount Brydges
were mentioned with
some members planning
to attend. A report was
given on the Tweedsmuir
Workshop where the
guest speaker was Eric
Heywood. Mary
Kernahan had a display
of her dolls along with
District members' dolls
putting on a show. The
short business portion
ended and refreshments
were served. The next
meeting will be held on
Oct. 26 at Helen
Webber's home.

the treasurer's report and
reports were given by
members of the Standing
Committees. Reports are
to be handed in at the
November meeting. The
meal for the Rebekah

our ladies on Oct. 19. The
U.C.W. prayer closed the
meeting and lunch pre-
pared by Lorraine
Alexander, Marjorie
Johns, Shirley Kerslake
and Judith Parker in
place of Marion Cann,
was delicious cake and ice
cream and beverage
which brought a very
interesting evening to a
close.

SAINTSBURY — On Mon.,Oct. 10,
2005 Hazel Davis called at the box
Funeral Home in Parkhill to pay
respects to the family of Ruth Anne
Robinson daughter of Anne (McFalls)
Robinson and the late Don Robinson.
The funeral was on Tuesday. Our sym-
pathy goes out to all the Robinson and
McFalls relatives from all of us in
Lucan-Biddulph.
Stevie MacGillivray enjoyed a surprise
90th birthday dinner on Sat., Oct. 15,
2005 when daughter and family
arrived from New Liskeard from the
weekend also Bob, Heather, Katie -
Scarlett, Caleb and Corbin were pre-
sent. Best wishes Stevie for many more
special birthdays from all of us at St.
Patrick's.
Hugh and Hazel surprised cousin
Marjorie Davis on Friday 1 day prior to
her 100th birthday celebration held at
Kensington Village October 15, 2005
given by her granddaughter and family
Judy and Claude Laurence and boys.
Best wishes Marjorie on such a special
day. Marjorie is amazing, looking after
herself, enjoying bingo and several
other activities plus her special hobby,
reading.
Evening Prayer will be held at St.
Patrick's next weekend 23rd after
Pentecost.
Ladies to attend Fall Deanery leaving
at 6:00 p.m. to St. James St. Marys,
from Hazels' home.
Hugh and Hazel enjoyed a short visit
with cousins Helen and Nish Johnson
on their farm near Glanworth.
Suzanne Davis attended the funeral
home in Goderich paying respects to
co-worker Carla Farrell in the passing
of her mother, Saturday she visited
Aunt Janette Lee of Aylmer and sunday
entertained her family along with
daughter and son-in-law Crystal and
Bryan along with granddaughter Audry
Grace.
Bill and Betty Johnson of Owen Sound
called on The Davis' on Thursday fol-
lowing a visit in London where they
had visited Bills brother Frank who is
recuperating from heart surgery.
